Caed Dhu

"Do you really wish to know?" — Spoilers from the books and/or adaptations to follow!

Caed Dhu (from Elder Speech: Black Forest or Black Grove) is a forest in Angren, on the right bank of the Yaruga, east to Red Port and west to the Klamat. It is also the location of a druids' circle.[1]

History

In 1267, Geralt's company wanted to visit the forest to search out the druids for information on Ciri's whereabouts.[1]

While the druids originally lived in Caed Dhu, they were later forced to flee south to Loch Monduirn and, later, Caed Myrkvid.[2]

Notes

  • In Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales Caed Dhu is incorrectly placed on the left bank of the Yaruga (south of the river) rather than on the right (north of the river).

Trivia

  • "Coed du" means Black Forest in Welsh. The Black Forest is a forested mountain range in southwestern Germany.
