Char was an adult male SandWing who was introduced in Deserter. He served as the king of the SandWings alongside his wife, Queen Oasis, until he was killed by a mysterious illness that swept the SandWing stronghold.

Char was tall and burly.[1]
Personality
Char was stern[1] and gentle.[2] He appeared pleased with himself after recruiting Dune and Six-Claws into the SandWing army.[3]

Winglets
Deserter
After Six-Claws saved Blaze from the sandstorm, Char scolded his daughter for venturing outside of the palace. Blister asked him if they should point out the culprit who lured Blaze into the desert, and Dune piped up in Six-Claws' defense. Upon noticing Six-Claws' claws, Blaze jumped away in fear and rudely criticized his talons, which resulted in another scolding from Char. Char, pleased by Six-Claws' deed, invited both Six-Claws and Dune to join the army as loyal soldiers of the queen.
Char was later said to have died of a mysterious sickness that swept through the palace, the same one that killed Six-Claws' father, Quicksand, sometime before Oasis was murdered by humans.
Relationships
Oasis
Char only had as much power as Queen Oasis let him have. Sometimes he accompanied her everywhere, welcomed into advisory meetings and diplomatic gatherings, and sometimes they would fight and he would be exiled from the palace for months at a time. He often fell out of favor with Oasis.[4]
Six-Claws
Char was impressed by Six-Claws' flying skills, requesting Six-Claws to be in the army, to which Six-Claws agreed to.
