Tools

Tools are various devices that will help you to craft, repair, remove, relocate buildings, or will help you to reach The Witch Islands, or gathering items in the Void. Most of the tools will be available by following the story quests, except for the Grappling Hook, that must be unlocked through the research.

Crafting Book

The Crafting Book is the main tool used to build various buildings and decor. When equipped, it will present the player with the crafting log, where they can choose any of their known buildings, and place them on their train.

If the player doesn't currently have enough resources for a build, a blueprint will be placed instead, and the building will remain unusable until requested materials are added. If the player wishes to move a building, or accidentally placed the building in the wrong spot, they can use the Hammer to remove it.

The Crafting Book cannot be dropped or lost, as it is available to the player at all times.

Journal

The Journal is a helpful book you will pick up once you enter the Void. In the Journal you can keep track on the quests or recipes. You will also find there tutorials and if you have bought a Supporter Pack DLC you can switch cosmetics that comes with that DLC in there. The notes that you will find during your journey will also be available in the journal.

The Journal cannot be dropped or lost, as it is available to the player at all times.

Hammer

The Hammer is the tool used to repair, relocate or demolish buildings on the train. When you equip the hammer there will be hints on how to operate with it. You can also use it to filter objects and reach some spaces, that you can't otherwise, like the broken wooden floor under the engine.

The Hammer cannot be dropped or lost, as it is available to the player at all times.

Grappling Hook

Grappling Hook is the tool that allows player to grab items or a fish from distance. It can be upgraded through the research table.
