The Chili is a red vegetable. It has a long green stalk, and it has yellow stripes on its red body.
It is mainly used as a way to quickly make Chocolate Coins, by repeatedly growing Chili plants and then selling them to Costolot's Store. Chili plants will not be stunted by growing plants too close to it, which allows Fertilizer to easily be applied to multiple Chili plants with a single dose. The maximum dosage, 3 fertilizers, grants a sell price of 400 coins per chili.
Known bug (base game): Chilis will appear to teleport a short distance after being dropped on the ground. Be careful when growing, buying, or placing chilis near the edge of the map, otherwise this bug will cause the chili to land outside the gardening area (out of bounds) while still taking up space. Although this means you are no longer able to interact with the chili, you can hire a Gatherling to help you sell it.
Other Uses
It is used to turn a Newtgat into a Salamango.
If you have a Resident Rashberry and want to romance it with either another Rashberry or a Swanana feed it a rotten chili. Tap the chili with the shovel to make it rotten.
It can be used to help meet romance requirements for the Reddhott.
