Lowtax was a rival village leader and the main antagonist of the Smallville comic book story "Nature".
Biography
Past
Many years ago, the villages in South America took up arms against each other. Lowtax was his village's greatest warrior as his victories ensured lasting peace for his people. He was made sachem of the warriors and Kimduk became his lieutenant. Emboldened by this honor, Lowtax grew bash and impudent, openly mocking the chief who valued peace that they had worked so hard to attain.
For all of his strength, Lowtax plotted to kill the chief while he slept. Kimduk knew there was only one way to stop the coup and he challenged him to single combat but Lowtax believed he was not a capable fighter.
His overconfidence made him vulnerable and Kimduk prevailed. His followers saw Lowtax in his true light for the first time and support for his coup crumbled.
The chief elder Morn, with a heavy heart, sentenced Lowtax and his most loyal followers to their gravest punishment - exile. Life beyond the village walls was difficult even for great warriors. While navigating the barren landscape, a meteor shower struck Earth with a giant meteor rock slamming into a monolith that mutated Lowtax and a panther, combined into a monstrous creature.
The men loyal to him were his first victims because he ate them. Lowtax remained close to the monolith since it was the source of his power, sparing the village from his barbaric wrath. The great chief later fell ill and passed away with Kimduk being named to replace him. Before his death, the elder warned that Kimduk's ascension would enrage Lowtax but also prophesied a savior who, like Lowtax, could command the energy of the green sky rock and would come to save them.
Nature
Lowtax, a former member of the village, began attacking their outer walls since Kimduk became the new chief. The giant cat man was attacking villagers but they fought back against the foul creature. Some wanted to retreat but the commander ordered them to stay in formation and fight.
Just at that moment, Clark Kent super speeds onto the scene but tripped, slipping and falling before a monolith with a chunk of meteor rock embedded in it. One warrior saw Clark writhing and drags him away from the pillar, because he was in pain from the Kryptonite.
As they do, the giant panther, Lowtax, slammed his claws into Clark's back. Injured, the villagers took Clark back to their home where they healed him and a man named Remy wakes Clark up, and they tell him the story and horrors of Lowtax. They tell him that it was prophesied that someone like Clark will destroy Lowtax, but he insisted he isn't a savior and has to return home. He then changes his mind and went to confront Lowtax.
Lowtax was in the middle of fighting Kimduk who told him to finish him when Clark super-speeds onto the scene punching the panther creature back. Clark throws Lowtax away only for the creature to rush and bite him in the torso. They fought, and Clark loses the upper hand. Lowtax tossed Clark towards the Kryptonite monolith which weakened him.
As Lowtax approached Clark to finish him off, the new chief came up from behind, stabbed Lowtax through the chest and proclaims the prophecy is fulfilled. This causes Lowtax to separate into cat and man again and the panther ran away while a defeated Lowtax laid on the ground. The village thanked Clark and he returned home.
