Basqat is a member of Zod's Army and a supporting antagonist in the ninth season of the WB/CW Television series Smallville.
He was portrayed by Adrian Holmes, who also played Griff in the same series and Rowan Pidgeons in Black Lagoon.
Biography
Past
Basqat was a soldier in Zod's army and a citizen of Kandor. He gave a sample of his blood that was stored inside an Orb at the request of the Ruling Council of Krypton. His blood was stored inside the contraption along with other Kandorians to preserve the Kryptonian race should Rao's prophecy ever come true. Basqat later perished in the destruction of Krypton.
Savior
When the Orb was opened by Tess Mercer, Basqat and the other clones were released and transported all over Earth. Basqat along with the Kandorians questioned their de-powered states while they held headquarters at the Luthor Mansion.
Zod told Basqat and Faora that he hadn't found anymore of their people. Basqat stated that Tess hasn't given them any useful information. Both questioned him on how they arrived on Earth and why they still haven't acquired their natural Kryptonian powers under the yellow sun.
Zod ordered them not to question his authority and to kneel before him but then Basqat strikes him, knocking him down. The Kandorians then took Zod and Tess hostage until they realized what to do next. Deciding to place the pair on trial, military cadet Basqat lead the prosecution, demanding that Tess reveal when she joined forces with Zod and the location of the hundreds of Kandorian soldiers unaccounted for.
Tess denied the accusation and any involvement in their missing troops. After a passionate speech by Zod, Basqat and the soldiers rose from their chairs and kneel on their right knees while crossing their right arm in a fist over their chests to their left shoulder, indicating their allegiance to Zod. They later left the mansion to get away from Mercer's influence and destroyed any evidence they were there.
Kandor
Weeks later, Basqat was with Alia and Faora when Zod spoke to them about capturing the traitor Jor-El. Jor-El was later brought before Zod wearing the T-shirt with the House of El symbol on it like The Blur's. After interrogating him, Zod ordered his soldiers to release Jor-El and begin searching for his son Kal-El.
Pandora
Basqat was at Zod's warehouse headquarters where Zod was handing out assignments to his soldiers to ensure the completion of the solar tower. Then Clark Kent arrives, dressed as The Blur. Zod faces him and tells the Kandorians to "Kneel before Kal-El", much to Basqat's disgust. They do as they're told and bow, all except for Zod who stood upright with Clark.
Sacrifice
Basqat later gained his Kryptonian powers after drinking the blood of Zod that had been imbued with Kal-El's. Basqat was at the Fortress of Solitude where Zod lies to his soldiers that the humans killed Faora and her unborn child. Clark arrives and tells them it is a lie, and that he left her alone alive with Zod. He sided with Zod who said that all humans will kneel before him, and he gives Basqat a nod as they all fly away.
Salvation
The war on Earth began and Basqat seared Zod's mark on the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. with his heat vision. Basqat appears to Zod on a roof and asks if he has the Book of Rao. Zod says he doesn't and tells Basqat not to question his resolve.
He says he will destroy the book, then asks Basqat if they have completed their mission. Once he affirms this, Zod mentions that his men are scattered throughout the world and that Clark is left alone in Metropolis. Basqat says they have destroyed their satellites, to which Zod proudly declares that, by dawn, they will have the Book of Rao and the planet will belong to them.
Later, the entire Kandorian army confronted Clark on the crows nest rooftop where he was about to use the Book of Rao. Zod and Clark try to get the Kandorians to trust them instead of the other. When Clark mentioned Faora, Zod smashed Clark into a wall and whispers that Faora was a traitor.
At this point, the other Kandorians used their super hearing to hear Zod confess. Basqat confessed that Zod would be dealt with on their new world. After the Book of Rao was activated, Basqat, along with his fellow Kandorians, were sent to their new home through the glowing light in the sky.
