Jimmy Bond, also known as Dr. Noah, is the main antagonist in the 1967 spoof James Bond film Casino Royale.
He was portrayed by Woody Allen.
Biography
He is Sir James Bond's incompetent nephew Jimmy Bond, a failed spy who has lived his entire life in his uncle's shadow. At one point in the movie he jumps over a wall to avoid a firing squad just to land in front of another firing squad on the other side.
He leaves MI6 and devises a plan to destroy his uncle's reputation. He starts by changing his name to Dr. Noah and taking over as head of SMERSH. He eliminates several MI6 agents around the world by enlisting beautiful women to seduce and kill them. He sends Vesper Lynd to seduce and kill Bond, but Bond is able to resist her advances.
After killing Le Chiffre for embezzling SMERSH's money, Dr. Noah kidnaps Mata Bond (Bond's daughter and Noah's cousin) in a giant flying saucer, Bond and Moneypenny travel to Casino Royale to rescue her, but Dr. Noah's men capture them and bring them to his headquarters atop a giant volcano. Dr. Noah reveals that he plans to use biological warfare to make all women beautiful and kill all men over 4-foot-6-inch tall, leaving him as the "big man" who gets all the girls. He will then replace all world leaders with robot duplicates under SMERSH control.
Dr. Noah has also captured MI6 agent The Detainer, who he is in love with, and tries to convince her to be his partner. She agrees, but only to dupe him into swallowing one of his "atomic time pills", turning him into a "walking atomic bomb". Bond, Moneypenny, and the rest manage to escape from their cell and fight their way back to the Casino. The casino is then overrun by MI6 and SMERSH agents and a battle ensues. American and French support arrive, but just add to the chaos. Eventually, Dr. Noah's atomic pill explodes, destroying the Casino Royale with everyone inside. Bond and all of his agents then appear in heaven, while Dr. Noah is shown descending into hell.
Trivia
- Woody Allen's final day of shooting was delayed so many times by the producers that he, highly frustrated and still in full Dr. Noah-costume, left the set, went immediately to Heathrow Airport and flew back to New York City.
- Still after all this years, Allen regrets his participation on Casino Royale due to the chaotic production.
- During the mere endless delays of his shootings, Woody Allen wrote the entire script for his film Take the Money and Run while he was waiting in his hotel room.
- In the Movie Dr. Noah wears a stilised Mao suit without chest-pockets almost identical to the one worn by Donald Pleasence as Ernst Stavro Blofeld in You Only Live Twice which premiered in June 1967, two months after Casino Royale.
