Baruka is a major antagonist in the dark fantasy Korean manhwa, light novel, and anime series Solo Leveling. He is a leader of the Ice Elves and the Red Gate Dungeon's boss. He is the main antagonist of the Red Gate Arc.
Appearance
Baruka is an elf with cold, blue-colored skin, long sharp ears, white eyes, and white spiky hair. As the leader, he does possess a special feature that is a three red purple-colored glowing signs on his forehead. For attire, he wears a winter outfit tailcoat.
Personality
Like the other ice elves, Baruka is illustrated as a sadistic murderer enjoys on murdering humans and expresses pride in battles. Being observant, Baruka quickly took notice about the details about that Sung Jinwoo was not an ordinary human upon facing him. He was also selfish as he was willing to spend the lives of his comrades to Jinwoo upon realizing that he was powerful.
Biography
Baruka and his men murder the entire party of Kim Chul, leaving only him the only member alive after he intended to clear the dungeon and flee the place. As Kim flees, All Ice Elves secretly followed him behind using the Stealth skill (invisbility), eventually leading them where they and their camouflage are seen through by the S-Rank hunter Sung Jinwoo, a hunter of the other half of the party. Spotting that the hunter is presumably too powerful for them to defeat, Bakura requests him to have his life spared and to offer the lives of his army. With Jinwoo's refusal, he summons the shadow army to face the army of elves. Eventually, Jinwoo alongside his shadows, Iron, and Igris overpowers him. He charges at Jinwoo, startled by his army's defeat. Jinwoo sends one of his daggers at him, with an accelerated speed of his telekinesis that breaks the elf's own blade.
In rage, the elf makes another attempt to kill Jinwoo by seizing his arm, but gets killed for good when Iron regenerates from behind and smashed him to the ground.
Differences in the anime
Abilities
- Immense Speed: Baruka could move at immense speed, enough to easily fight Jinwoo, Igris, and even Iron almost on equal term simultaneously.
- Stealth: Bakura is skilled to almost completely erase his presence in both magical and physical states.
Trivia
- It is very likely that the "voice" Baruka referred to had something to do with the Architect's schemes, which explains why his words were "gliched" or interrupted so that Jinwooo would not know the truth behind the System or anything related.
