Azma is a recurring villain in The Emperor’s New School TV show. She is the mother of Yzma, who made her debut appearance in the episode “The Bride of Kuzco,” during which she wished to see Yzma as Empress at the royal palace.
She does not speak, instead coughs and wheezes.
Past
During Yzma’s childhood, Azma pressures her to become Empress, possibly for her own goals, which would have a big impact on her daughter’s future goals.
When Yzma became an adult, her mother keeps asking her “Are you empress yet?” which Yzma complained to Kuzco about in one episode.
The Bride of Kuzco
In the episode she features in, Yzma, as Amzy, calls Kuzco into her office, offering a deal with him, which he refuses. Later, she and Kronk pick Azma up from the airport, during which Yzma orders Kronk to take her to the Faraway Mountains first, and the palace last.
After Princess Lalala gets turned into a frog and Yzma becomes Empress for a day, she summons Azma in to view her in the palace.
Trivia
- Azma can be considered the greater-scope villain in the entire Emperor’s New Groove franchise, as her desire to see Yzma as Empress led her daughter to get rid of Kuzco and take over the empire, leading to the plot of the movie, the sequel and the TV show.
- Azma’s main goal seems to be to become Empress Mother.
