Puppets are enemies found exclusively in [ 7-3: NO SOUND, NO MEMORY ] taking the form of featureless humanoids of blood that take various forms across the level.
Appearance
Puppets are humanoid creatures made entirely out of blood, lacking any distinguishable features.
Combat
Puppets are fought in the course of four encounters through their level mimicking other enemies in each fight. Their first encounter presents them as slow sluggish enemies that deal little damage, while their second encounter has them mimic the appearance and attacks of a Filth. Their third encounter has the Puppet mimic a Stray, and their fourth and final encounter the Puppet mimics the attacks and appearance of a Mannequin.
Puppets spawn endlessly around the blood trees. Killing them in the tree's vicinity will "water" it. Once the tree is fully coated in blood, all remaining Puppets will immediately die and no more will spawn.
Attacks
- When close enough to V1, Puppets will swing similar to Mindflayers, dealing a pitiful 10 damage for how slow they are.
Trivia
- Killing Puppets does not add to the kill-count displayed at the end of the level.
- Killing them also does not grant any style points.
- The Puppets use an edited version of this earlier model of the Filth.
- Puppets aren't affected by the speed benefits of Radiance.
- The tiny version of the Puppet in the hand of the Spawner Arm will jitter whenever V1 moves.
- When spawned in the Sandbox, Puppets do not mimic other enemies and take on the appearance seen in their first encounter.
- It is possible for any enemy to become a Puppet via the developer console. This can only be accessed using cheats, however.
- Puppets immediately die if they become sanded. A puppeted Stalker should die instantly due to always being sanded. However, this is not true in practice. If the sanded property of a stalker is disabled and reenabled it instantly dies.
- Puppeted enemies that become sanded will still die with Invincible enemies on.
- Puppeted enemies revert back to their normal appearance upon becoming enraged, or in the case of Sisyphus Prime, entering his second phase. This does not include weapons or a Virtue's core.
- Giving a boss health bar to a puppet using green spawner arm will display their name as ???.
