Ultraman Cosmos

Generation I

Neldorand, a natural monster wandering the countryside, was spotted by EYES, appearing injured with his right horn snapped off. EYES attempted to move the creature using an energy net, but a monster hunter, Junya Nagare intervened, trying to kill Neldorand with a rocket launcher. This deactivated the energy net and nearly incapacitated the monster. While EYES was treating Neldorand’s injuries, Nagare returned to finish the job. As he fought with Musashi Haruno, a Chaos Organism appeared and transformed Neldorand into Chaos Neldorand.

With EYES unable to harm the newly transformed creature, Chaos Neldorand fought back, proving too powerful for them to handle. Both EYES jet fighters were soon shot down by fireballs. Musashi tried to distract Chaos Neldorand with flares, while Nagare used his special rocket launcher. However, Chaos Neldorand launched fireballs at the hunter, severely injuring him.

Running out of options, Musashi quickly transformed into Ultraman Cosmos. Early in the battle, Cosmos shifted from Luna Mode to Corona Mode, allowing him to fight Chaos Neldorand more effectively. After his Color Timer began to run out, Cosmos switched to Eclipse Mode and quickly overpowered Chaos Neldorand. With a single shot of the Cosmium Beam, Chaos Neldorand was destroyed, reverting to his original form.

Once returned to normal, Neldorand continued to wander the countryside until he fully recovered. He was later relocated to the Kaburaya Islands for protection.

Generation II

Another Neldorand, Neldorand II (ネルドラント II, Nerudoranto II) with the same appearance just like the one from Kaburaya Islands and resurfaces due to the impact of Cosmos' previous battle. While it was wondering around the countryside when Chaos Ultraman converted him into Chaos Neldorand II (カオスネルドラント II, Kaosu Nerudoranto II), but thanks to EYES with a test vaccine against Chaos Organism he turned back to normal. Like the first one, he too was brought to Kaburaya Islands.

Trivia
  • Nelodorand II, along with Chaos Ultraman, was referenced by the Spark Dolls Troupe in New Ultraman Retsuden episode 37.
  • Neldorand II's suit would later be recycled and modified to create the Space Beast Lizarias.

Neldorand Mechalator

A Neldorand was captured by Alien Nowar and modified into a living weapon. After its release, EYES attempted to subdue the creature, but their anesthesia had no effect. Scans of Neldorand Mechalator revealed that it had undergone even more extensive modifications than Taildas Mechalator, and it was suspected that one of the devices rendered Neldorand immune to anesthesia. With no other option, Captain Harumitsu Hiura ordered the team to use lethal force to stop the cyborg monster. However, in a desperate attempt to save Neldorand’s life, Musashi transformed into Ultraman Cosmos.

Cosmos assumed Eclipse Mode and fired the Cosmium Beam, which split into five lasers to remove the implants. The procedure succeeded, and both Neldorand and Cosmos briefly celebrated. Tragically, however, Neldorand soon died of shock. The monster’s death deeply saddened the EYES team, and Ultraman Cosmos took Neldorand’s body into space for burial.

Trivia
  • According to the "Definitive Edition Ultraman Cosmos Illustrated Super Encyclopedia" (published by Kodansha), Neldorand Mechalator is docile until it receives orders. It also possesses energy tanks twice the size of those in Taildas Mechalator, as well as a mechanized heart that will keep the monster alive as long as it is functioning.
  • Neldorand Mechalator's roars are reused from Golza's.
