Trivia

  • Nitrogen Studios began production on this series in May 2009, immediately following the delivery of Hero of the Rails.[1]
  • Episodes one to nine in production order and O the Indignity all have a copyright of 2009. Almost all the rest have a copyright of 2010. According to the 2013 Character Bios, O the Indignity was originally episode nine.
  • This series marks the first for a few things:
    • 'Arry, Bert and Jem Cole's first appearances in full CGI.
    • The first series in which Jo Jordan is the creative producer.
    • The first series not to feature the Troublesome Trucks, as none of the trucks in this series have faces.
    • The first series to have episodes written by Jessica Sandys Clarke.
    • The first series to be exclusively aired on JimJam in the Netherlands, premiering in May 2013.
    • The first series in which Stanley and Mr. Percival appear but do not speak since their introductions.
    • The first series that did not release on DVD in South Korea.
    • The first series to have Kotaro Nishiyama as part of the Japanese voice cast.
    • The first series aired by CBeebies in South Korea.
    • The first series to play general Engine Roll Call song since the eleventh series in Sweden.
    • The first series aired by MiniMini+ in Poland.
    • The first series where Thomas does not crash or has an accident.
  • The winter-themed episodes were re-dubbed for the UK release of Merry Winter Wish, replacing the term "Winter Holidays" with "Christmas Holidays". This was in response to criticism from Hilary Fortnam in 2011 about the references to Christmas being removed from Little Engines Big Days Out.
  • This marks the last of a few things:
    • This was Sharon Miller's last series as creative producer.
    • The last series to have episodes written by Mark Robertson, Miranda Larson and Louise Kramskoy.
    • The last series dubbed in Swedish until the twenty-second series.
    • The last series released on DVD until the twenty-second series in Nordic countries.
    • The last series of the original show dubbed in Welsh.
    • The last series aired by MiniMini in Poland.
  • This series marks the only of two things:
    • Scruff's only speaking role until the seventeenth series.
    • The only series to have episodes written by Denise Cassar, Mark Daydy and Rachel Dawson.
  • This series was released on TV4 Play in Sweden.
  • In the Korean dub, the original British production crew were never credited.
  • This would have been Pierce Brosnan's final series as narrator if he had stayed.
  • This is Emily's least prominent series since her introduction, as she only speaks in two episodes.
  • Tidmouth Sheds appears the least this series in a total of three episodes, not counting the Jack and the Sodor Construction Company spin-off miniseries, in which Tidmouth Sheds appeared in only two episodes.
