Trouble in Paradise is the third chapter of The Quarry. It takes place on August 22, 2021 at 9 PM. The player controls Abigail, Jacob, Ryan and again Jacob as the night begins to turn into a nightmare.
21:10
Abigail is shown walking through the woods after leaving the game of truth or dare. She rants in frustration about the game before realizing she has lost her way. As she makes her way deeper into the woods, Abigail hears whispering around her. Eventually, she will hear the sound of Nick calling out to her.
- If Abigail chooses to call back to Nick, they will reunite immediately.
- If Abigail chooses to stay quiet, she can hide and be frightened by Nick or she can follow his voice and be reunited with him anyway.
Now together, the two will sit on a log, facing opposite directions. They will talk about the truth or dare game, specifically about the kiss between Emma and Nick. Abigail can address this straightforwardly or indirectly.
After talking, Abigail has the option to kiss Nick. If she does not take this chance, the conversation will continue - topic now shifting to how the two met and their feelings towards each other. Abigail is then given another chance to kiss Nick. (if she didn't call him back.)
Whether the two kiss or not, they will hear growling nearby and go to investigate. Momentarily, Nick catches sight of the creature so yells at Abigail to run. Nick runs off first and, after pausing, is tackled to the ground and mauled by the creature. Abigail screams in terror until a gunshot drives the animal away from Nick.
Abigail is given the option to run to camp alone or help Nick. For either option, the action will be stopped short when Abigail is also tackled by the animal. Another gunshot will prevent it from attacking her further. Abigail will then run away, leaving Nick alone even if she chose to help him previously.
A chase sequence will ensue between Abigail and the creature. No matter how many QTE's she fails, Abigail will successfully escape.

Jacob is shown crying at the boathouse as he reflects on the night, specifically about the kiss between Emma and Nick. He sits at the end of the pier, making poor attempts at skipping rocks across the lake. Emma walks along the pier to take a seat next to Jacob. The two talk, both arguing their own points of view - Emma reminding Jacob that they're no longer together and Jacob still expressing his frustration.
Jacob begins to storm off until Emma stops him, asking him to go find towels. She says that the summer is technically not over, that the two still have time to spend with each other. Immediately, Jacob agrees, entering the boathouse to retrieve towels from upstairs.
The camera pans down into the lake, revealing a body anchored in the water.
Jacob can then explore the boathouse, eventually finding that there are no towels left on the shelves. Emma tells him to come down anyway, they can swim without.
The two will reunite at the pier. While Jacob begins to undress, Emma jumps into the water. Emma will attempt to banter with Jacob, to which he can respond positively or negatively, choosing to sourly bring up Nick again. Either way, the two eventually have fun together in the lake.
Jacob will climb back onto the pier and hear a scream.
- If he chose to break the fuel line in Chapter 1 then he will automatically choose to investigate the scream. Beforehand, he tries to alert Emma of this but she has swum too far away for her to understand what he's saying. He runs in direction of the scream, leaving Emma confused and alone in the lake.
- If he chose to steal the rotor arm in Chapter 1 then he will be given the option to retrieve the rotor arm (which has fallen out of his pocket and is sinking down into the lake) or to investigate the scream. After diving into the water, Jacob's hand will momentarily become entangled in a wire. He inevitably pulls himself free and then catches sight of the rotor arm. He is given the choice to grab it or surface. Surfacing or failing the QTE to grab the rotor arm immediately ends the sequence. After successfully grabbing the rotor arm, Jacob will find the bloated corpse. As he recoils in fear, his hand again becomes entangled in a wire. Doing nothing or not choosing to detangle the wire results in Jacob drowning.

For a short while, the remaining counselors at the campfire (Kaitlyn, Dylan and Ryan) talk about the events of the truth or dare game until they are interrupted by a scream nearby. Ryan and Kaitlyn investigate and find Abigail. She begs the two to help Nick who is still injured in the woods. Kaitlyn urges Ryan to rescue him while she helps Abigail, giving Ryan the shotgun.
Ryan runs through the woods. If most QTE's are failed, Ryan will arrive at a clearing with nobody in sight. Hearing rustling in the bushes, he raises his gun and is given the choice to shoot. Whether he shoots or not, Nick will emerge from the bushes (he will be unfazed if Ryan shot him) and express urgency to leave.
If most QTE's are successful, Ryan will arrive in time to see Nick being dragged away by Bobby. He will be given the choice to shout at Bobby then to shoot him. Shooting Bobby results in him releasing Nick and walking away. When Ryan approaches Nick, he will find a vial of blood on the ground next to him - dropped by Bobby. Ryan pockets this.
If Ryan does not shoot Bobby, Nick will instead bite Bobby's finger, making him release his grip. While free, Nick will run to safety nearby. Bobby takes out his gun and makes a futile shot at Nick before aiming the gun at his hand. In shock, Ryan watches Bobby shoot off his own bitten finger. Bobby walks away and Ryan reunites with Nick.
Inevitably, the two of them make their way back to the campfire, Ryan helping Nick walk despite his injuries.

This section only plays out if Jacob is alive.
Jacob runs through the woods in search of Abigail. He comes to a stop upon hearing the crying of an animal nearby. Cautiously, he looks around for the noises source while slowly backing away. He is given the choice to call out. If he does, he will call out Abigail's name but hear no response.
As he backs away, he steps into a snare trap and is suddenly strung up into the air, upside down. A button-mashing QTE will enable Jacob to try and free himself but, before he can, Bobby approaches him. Jacob communicates to Bobby but he doesn't respond, instead cutting the trap to let Jacob free.
While Jacob lies on the ground, Bobby kneels by his side and takes something out from the pocket of his overalls. Jacob is given the option to throw dirt at him. If he does not do this, Bobby will reveal the object in his hands to be a vial of blood which he pours onto Jacob's face. As Jacob complains, Bobby reassures him that it's for his own good. Once finished, Bobby takes out a device - supposedly a tracker for an animal he is hunting - and walks away, leaving Jacob alone.
If Jacob does throw dirt at Bobby, Bobby will be temporarily blinded, giving Jacob enough time to run away.
As Jacob runs through the woods, the camera pans up to a wild pig that has also been strung up by a snare - the source of the animal noises Jacob heard earlier.
