Velgaia ｢ヴェルガイア, verugaia｣ — formerly known as simply Gaia ｢ガイア, gaia｣ — is one of the True Dragons and has a storied history with Milim Nava.
Appearance
Unlike their siblings, Velgaia resembles an eastern dragon instead of a western one. Their slender body is around 20 meters in length and covered in shining bright-blue scales. They are also capable of assuming a smaller form, the same as their original pseudo-soul avatar, being only around 50 centimeters in length.
Background
When the eldest of the True Dragons took a human wife and conceived a child, he lost most of his powers in the process. Anticipating this, he used his power to create a dragon from his own energy, one that could serve as his stand-in and protect his daughter. While the father soon passed on, the dragon Gaia remained by Milim's side and the two formed a bond close to that of siblings.
When Gaia died due to the plot of an enemy nation, Milim went on a rampage and destroyed them. In response to their master's evolution, they received a gift and evolved in turn. However, the resurrection brought about from Milim's harvest festival gift was rough and incomplete, their body being corrupted by various different impurities and revived in a cursed state. Gaia became a mindless chaos dragon that while still obeying its master's orders would destroy everything else in sight as well. In response to this, Milim sealed them away deep in the mountains and said goodbye.
Thousands of years later, the sleeping chaos dragon was unsealed by the whims of Yuuki Kagurazaka and used as a pawn in his battle against Leon Cromwell. During this battle, the dragon's power was absorbed by Yuuki and the chaos dragon itself was bombarded with the purifying powers of Leon's Metatron. As a result of this, the Gaia's curse was lifted and it was able to be resurrected with the help of Rimuru Tempest.
Later on, during the Tenma War, Gaia's heart core and the scraps of dragon factor in their possession merged with the dragon core of the Berserk Evil Dragon Zero and this resulted in the birth of the Earth Emperor Dragon Velgaia.
