Archdaemons ｢上位魔将, āku dēmon｣ are the peak evolutionary stage that can be reached by daemons in the Daemon Realm. Only the most powerful of greater daemons can ascend to this height. They are considered legendary monsters to the general public and, the "Lord of Darkness" aside, are considered the pinnacle of daemons, only existing in a few records.
Background
Within the sphere of the Western Nations, the common sense regarding archdaemons is that it's impossible for a nameless daemon to be an archdaemon. The only way for archdaemons to come into existence is supposedly the case where a strong greater daemon gets named, evolving into an archdaemon. Hence, a common question when dealing with daemons is "does it have a name?" to ascertain whether the daemon in question could be an archdaemon. However, this common belief is completely wrong. Any daemons with sufficient strength, even for a "modern" species, can become an archdaemon without a name.
It is also possible for a greater daemon to become an archdaemon just from "the public" unintentionally naming them based on a legend or tale.
Properties
Archdaemons possess an immense amount of power, comparable to that of a Demon lord seed. They, unlike lesser daemons and most greater daemons, possess an almost entirely human appearance. Their only non-human features possessed are the iconic claws, horns, and wings found on all members of the daemon race, though these can easily be hidden at their discretion. Their appearance, like that of all spiritual life-forms, is dictated entirely by their self-image. Archdaemons might be influenced by a body they previously inhabited or developed their own appearance naturally without the influence of other individuals.
Archdaemons all belong to a specific color lineage, with their color being apparent in their appearance. The color of a daemon's sclera will usually match their lineage and, although not always, other parts of their body match this color as well. Examples include, but are not limited to, hair color, iris color, and skin color. The color of their clothing usually also reflects the color of their lineage.
