Keito

Keito (計都 Keito?, lit. "Ketu") is a move used by Jin Kazama since Tekken 6. The move is a variation of his Evil Intent string.

Since Tekken Tag Tournament 2, the user can input f after the second hit to transition to Zenshin.

Description

Jin punches the opponent with a right body cross (the first hit of the Evil Intent) before spinning all the way through followed by a forward left kick to the opponent's gut, dealing damage.

His devil form, Devil Jin has a new move called Laser Slice in Season 4 of Tekken 7 which is a variant of his human form's Keito as the foward kick was now on the opponent's chin rather than the gut.

During the final battle of Tekken 8's Story Mode against Kazuya, the move is replaced with an altered version of Laser Slice that reuses Keito's kick, complete with the transition to Zenshin.

Usage

Originally, the move saw little use as there were only limited options to use the second hit of Keito to check an opponent outside of using Evil Intent, and even then, there were several faster and better poking mids. When Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was released, Keito's transition to Zenshin could be used to add more hits for Tag Assault filler. The move fell out of favor in Tekken 7 as Zenshin was primarily used to end combos, but this would change in Fated Retribution due to the introduction of Halberd Heel, allowing Keito to be used as filler in a combo before a Screw.

Trivia

  • In the defunct Tekken (Mobile), his Keito became one of his Guard Break Waza Cards that deals weaker damage if it is not blocked.
  • The move is named after Ketu, a personified god in Vedic astrology. The god is usually paired with Rahu, also the (Japanese) name of another move Jin has.
