An existence made to be a labor force in a society where human activities are restricted due to excessive global warming.
Androids have special serial numbers as their identifiers.
It is speculated that their serial numbers first two alphabets are based on an elements from the periodic table, followed by their production date. We currently don't know what the last two alphabets stand for but it's most likely their licensor or some sort.
Androids' Features
- Designed to be able to withstand the sun's heat which in this universe is average 48 degrees celcius. This makes androids and humans easy to differ as humans have to wear a special cape during daytime.
- Androids are charged using Charging Equipment (充電整備). When they ran out of power, an error beep will play. This beep can be turned off but it's a rare case.
- Like typical machines, their power usage is based on how much activities they are doing. If not doing strenuous exercise, an average android can last for 4 days without charging.
- Has night vision. As they can see clearly in dark rooms.
- Is able to taste food and drinks. When they consume food/drinks, the said food/drinks will break into nanomachine particles where their tasting sensor will scan and send the taste result to their electric brain (like human's tasting). This isn't a necessity for them, as Kei in particular isn't a fan of eating and drinking. In short, they eat/drink just for fun.
- Alcohols or any medicines that affect human nervous systems doesn't work on androids. So, it is impossible for them to get drunk.
- Androids are designed to be able to float.
- Alto said that the reason to that is because androids were made for labor in a submerged city and so they are made to be floatable.
- Underwater features include:
- They don't breathe but they have waterproof shutter for they throat so that they don't swallow water.
- Communicate with each other though sound collecting isn't as smooth as on land.
- Have a Special Feature (特殊機能) which differs to each androids. Usually has something to do with their purpose of being made. It consumes lifespan when activated, the amount of consumed lifespan differs.
- Have Safety Device (安全装置), as the most basic program in their system which will make them immobile in case of an attempt to attack humans.
- Police robots have an exception to this since they are approved by WG to have their Interlock non-activated as they might need to deal with human criminals.
- They are not exactly susceptible or sensitive to temperature change. The blazing sun heat doesn't affect them that much either.
- In case of severe malfunction, there is a possibility of androids being re-initialized, or usually called as Initialization (初期化).
- The more developed an android's "kokoro" is, the more their specs become irrelevant as it means the more human they become.
Creator, Ownership & Maintenance
- Androids are created by a master (製造者, Masutā).
- People who create androids illegally are called as Dark Master (闇マスター, Yami Masutā). Dark Masters are usually depicted as bad since they create illegal androids for evil deeds. This doesn't apply to Nobel or does it?
- Androids' are usually owned by an owner (所有者, Ōnā).
- Maintenance and repairs are usually done by people who have Doctor (修理技師, Dokutā) title. People have to pass exams to be official doctors. Alto passed the base exam and is currently taking the advanced exams.
Robots' Three Principles
There are three basic rules which androids and robots have to follow. This is a reference to Three Laws of Robotics devised by science fiction author Isaac Asimov. The following rules are:
1. Robots must not harm humans.
2. As long as it doesn't violate rule number one, robots must follow humans' orders.
3. As long as it doesn't violate rules number one and two, robots must protect themselves.
Forbidden Techniques
- Mind Uploading: A technique where a human's memories are stored and uploaded into an android body. This technique is considered forbidden since it has a very high risk. One android made by this technique is Koyomi.
