Kouhai-chan is one of the main characters in the Getsuyoubi no Tawawa series. She works as an office lady for an unnamed trading company.
Appearance
Kouhai-chan is a young woman deep-blue eyes and a distinct mole in the corner of her right eye. She has long brown hair that is parted to her right side and wears a hair clip on her left. She occasionally wears small, round earrings.
She is commonly seen wearing formal business attire, consisting of a dark blue jacket and matching dress skirt on top of a white dress shirt.
Personality
As her name suggests, Kouhai-chan is depicted as a junior employee of a company. Senpai describes her as being "capable, has a bright welcoming personality, and is a quick learner". Senpai also compared her to a dog for being easy to compliment. On the other hand, she is known for being the target of the advances of other employees in the company, and her breasts are notorious for being a distraction in the workplace.
Kouhai inherited her mother's low alcohol tolerance. Because of this, although liking drinking herself, she prefers not to drink too much. When she does get drunk, she becomes much louder than when sober and has a tendency to take off her clothes even on public places. This demands other people (like Senpai in the office or Rikei-chan during their nights out) to keep watch of her actions or protect her in whatever way.

Kouhai-chan joined Sales Division Two of a large company and was assigned to be trained by her senpai[3]. Being added to the division greatly improved the work atmosphere there, although she also received unwanted attention from her colleagues from both Division Two and even their rival Division One. Senpai was constantly worried about her, but was unable to directly confront her in fears of being accused of sexual harassment. She continued working together with her senpai, sometimes going together during product presentations and data gathering[4].
Kouhai visited her Senpai's apartment unit for the first time upon learning that he owns a cat at home[5]. Aside from wanting to pet one since her apartment does not allow pets inside, Kouhai asked for advice about an incident when she saw a student acting intimately towards a teacher. Senpai did not agree to a romantic relationship between a student and a teacher and even accused the adult of taking advantage of a sheltered girl, but Kouhai understood the girl's feelings, implying that she had a similar experience in the past. Since the first successful visit, Kouhai's visits to her Senpai's apartment unit became more frequent.
During one nomikai, their colleagues noticed one particular thing between the two: Kouhai only agreed to drink alcohol when her Senpai is present, which made them suggest that there is something going on between the two[6]. Although a drunk Senpai did imagine a future with his Kouhai as his bride, he quickly dismissed it, not wanting to see Kouhai in such a way after only a short time together.
As time went by, Senpai slowly realized that they have been drinking alone together more often and that he is slowly accepting his feelings towards his Kouhai. Although Senpai was currently unwilling to make it public, Kouhai's actions while drunk were making it hard to hide from her, while their colleagues were already suspecting something based on how often they leave the office together. Eventually they started eating lunch together in the office, especially one time when Senpai broke his hand in an accident[7]. Kouhai showed eagerness to take care of him the same way she nursed her younger brother, which startled Senpai and gave off mixed reactions from their colleagues.
Kouhai and Senpai visited the former's alma mater for official business[8]. This also enabled Kouhai to introduce Senpai to Rikei-chan, a graduate student and her friend from their college days. Not long after, Kouhai was visited by Rikei-chan after a long time not seeing each other, and Kouhai's unreliable description of her Senpai gave Rikei-chan the impression that Senpai was doing indecent things to her friend, which Kouhai had to clarify[9]. Regardless, Rikei-chan decided to examine their relationship first-hand by tailing them after office hours[10]. Senpai, whose injury had already healed at this time, eventually proved to Rikei that he is protective of Kouhai, and Rikei became more friendly towards him, to the point of sharing her own memories of Kouhai when drunk.
Upon receiving the results of their medical exam, Kouhai agreed to help her Senpai improve his health results by bringing her to a nearby gym[11]. Senpai eventually decided to sign up to the gym upon seeing the glares of the patrons towards Kouhai. The gym also became their first visit together outside of work, something that Senpai never did with his other colleagues. Kouhai soon took a walk with Senpai across town, with Rikei contacting him about what they are doing; to Senpai's surprise, the day was actually Kouhai's birthday[12]. Without anything prepared for the occasion, Senpai chose to give Kouhai access to his pet camera, allowing her to see Fumi-chan while at her own home.
As summer arrived, Kouhai, Senpai and Rikei found the nearby Tawawa Bath to be their comfort from the heat. Initially discovered by Senpai, Kouhai brought Rikei there to try it out, and eventually the three started meeting there to avoid the summer weather[13]. Around this time, Kouhai also moved to a new apartment unit which was safer, more expensive, and had a cockroach problem that both Senpai and Rikei had to deal with[14].

- In Tawawa on Monday #248, it is confirmed that her breasts are J-cup, and in Tawawa on Monday #323, a more precise J70. Her bust measurement seems to sit at 101 cm, as hinted in the Tawawa on Monday #362.
- She lives in the same apartment complex as Maegami-chan and Gimai-chan. The apartment complex does not allow its tenants to own pets.
- In the 2nd season of the anime, Kouhai's eyes have a light tan color to them; this is likely a production error.
- Kouhai's company produces the uniforms that are worn by Ai-chan as a waitress in Bakery Restaurant Tawawa. The same company also produces a special type of dress shirt designed specifically for women with large breasts.
