Tenzing Norgay was a part of a team of men present at a base camp on Mount Everest in 1953. He was confused when the Fifteenth Doctor unexpectedly arrived in their tent, offering a ham and cheese toastie and a pumpkin latté. The Doctor, however, immediately departed upon seeing their confusion.
Shortly following this, the Doctor reappeared, this time stealing rope and a grappling hook. He shouted out at him, asking what he was doing. Sometime later, he and Edmund Hillary observed the Christmas star together. He asked Edmund if he thought the weather would hold, to which Edmund replied that it of course would, that it was in the stars. In 2011, Elsie Rossiter complained that it was difficult for her to climb down all the stairs at Rowbarton Estate in her condition, but commented that once she'd had knee surgery she would be "up and down them stairs like Sherpa Tenzing".
