Biography
Meeting the Doctor
She attempted to escape from home every Christmas after her mother died on Christmas Day during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the circumstances of the pandemic, she was not even allowed to visit her mother in hospital, forced instead to talk to her using an iPad.
She was drawn into the affair of the star seed when her hotel room was invaded by a Silurian who had come from the Time Hotel. When the Fifteenth Doctor refused to take from him the briefcase containing the star seed, she took it instead, resulting her becoming the next carrier for it and the disintegration of the Silurian.
The Doctor opened the briefcase, triggering a warning that Joy would be disintegrated within 20 seconds if it was not closed. The closure of the briefcase resulted in another warning that she would be disintegrated in 15 seconds if a 4-digit code was not entered. Another version of the Fifteenth Doctor then arrived, providing the code and the Fifteenth Doctor was then forced to live in Joy's hotel room for an entire year in order to complete the bootstrap paradox and provide the code, as it was impossible to time travel to the Time Hotel.
Upon completion of this, Joy and the Doctor then began a journey through time in attempt to prevent the star seed from detonating and destroying the Earth. Ultimately, Joy would realise that the only way to prevent this was to fulfill the original mission, eating the star seed and completing the goal of allowing herself to become a star. She told the Doctor that she was saving the world. He pleaded that he was supposed to be saving her, that she would die, but she replied that she would not, that she was simply changing and would shine everywhere and forever. She told him that he needed to change to, that he needed a friend. She then rose into the sky, becoming the star that guided the Three Wise Men to Bethlehem.
