Little Italy was an area in the borough of Manhattan, New York City, which was home to a number of Italian immigrants.
In 1927, Jack Harkness and Angelo Colasanto rented a room in Little Italy above Giardano's Butchers Shop. The same year, on the 4 July, the pair had sex in the room and later watched the fireworks being set off as part of the Fourth of July celebrations.
The pair returned to the room in 1928, when Angelo stabbed Jack in the chest, believing him to be "il diavolo". Mr and Mrs Giardano hung Jack up in a meat locker, where he was shot and slashed with various knives and meat hooks, each time returning from the dead. It was in that meat locker, where the Costerdane, Ablemarch and Frines families formed a partnership, offering the asking price of $10000 for Jack.
With the help of Angelo, Jack was able to escape the butchers. He retrieved his coat and vortex manipulator from the roof of a nearby building. He then fell from the roof and disappeared from Angelo's life. (TV: Immortal Sins)
