Behind the scenes

"Freedom Tower" was the initial name of the One World Trade Center during planning stages. Officially, it has the same name as the former North Tower of the World Trade Center, which was destroyed in the September 11th attacks, although Freedom Tower remains a common colloquial name and is the only name the tower has been referred to in the DWU.

The tower appears briefly in The Angels Take Manhattan. Its appearance in the episode shows the tower still under construction. Construction would be complete in 2013, a year after the episode's broadcast. The comic story Spiral Staircase, released in 2015, would show the tower fully complete.
