Odobi

Odobi

Odobi is the walrus leader of The Order of Magick.

History

Odobi was initially seen leading a team of scouts attempting to track down rogue magick user Ebony the Cat. He had learned that Ebony had obtained the Essence, a vial of Chaos Energy siphoned from Super Sonic, and knew that unleashing this would be a catastrophe for Mobius.

On his initial chase of her, Odobi caught up to her but was unable to keep her in his sights when she used a fire and wind spell to escape. Using his cohorts' locator incantations, he found her again, this time with Sonic the Hedgehog. Odobi gave warnings to Sonic to move away from the dangerous Ebony and had to conjure up magical barriers to prevent a direct hit from the hedgehog. Although Sonic soon after escaped with Ebony, Odobi used the brief coming-together to warn Sonic about the essence. Odobi arrived for a third time and trapped Sonic and Ebony within a larger barrier, yet now this time he had unwittingly captured a third hero in the form of Blaze the Cat.

Odobi arrived a few minutes later to subdue Ebony but was distracted by the appearance of Blaze, someone he deemed to be an "anomaly" and who shouldn't be there. He directly attacked Ebony with energy blasts but the cat now had means to conjuring barriers of her own. Despite her help in destroying Ebony's barrier, Odobi magicked Blaze away to another dimension, although her work did allow Odobi to drain Ebony's powers and give Sonic advance notice that he would be witness in her trial.

The Order continued to monitor Blaze, wondering how she existed and why she arrived on Drak when teleported away. Blaze broke into their building, desperate to find something that had been recently haunting her. Odobi arrived and, although briefly explained his fascination with her, had her teleported into a prison cell for future questioning.

Some time later, Odobi summoned Sonic as promised through a portal for the trial of Ebony. He revealed that he spent a lot of time and resources to find Sonic, who himself had recently been transported to another planet, but also revealed that he planned on placing Sonic there again as soon as he was done with him. Odobi went on to reveal Ebony's crimes and the likely punishment of fatal magickal extraction. Interrogation was one-sided, focusing on Ebony's willingness to unleash an apocalypse rather than listen to her pleas of wanting to find her pacifist friend again. Odobi and The Order found Ebony to be guilty, but the sentence was delayed when an alarm in the building suggested that Blaze, earlier re-captured, was on the loose and near The Flame.

Odobi transported himself and Sonic to the scene where, upon consultation with the rest of the Order, attempted to restrain Blaze and again summoned a Mobius Ring to get rid of her for a third time. Ebony forcefully resisted, punching Odobi in the face and prompting the walrus to restrain Ebony himself, but accidentally propelling her into the giant portal. As Blaze formed a barrier around herself and the Flame, Odobi and The Order could no longer use its magical source and were largely powerless. Sonic summoned the others and, between them, all used the last of their powers to teleport Blaze away (and back in time) whilst wiping Sonic's memory and sending him back to the Aquatic Ruin Zone.

As part of a stable time loop, this series of events occurred many more times, with Blaze re-living her life and again finding herself standing in front of The Flame. However, following a one-time meeting with Silver the Hedgehog, Blaze now had more understanding of her memories and what she should do. At the point where Odobi would usually restrain Ebony, Blaze intervened and found herself propelled into the portal. Odobi initially resisted Ebony's pleas to help her but caved in and, along with Ebony and the Order, used their magic to break Blaze free of the loop and send her elsewhere. Although still with no magickal source, Odobi thanked Ebony for her help and hired her so that the Order could keep an eye on her.
