Hercules

Hercules

Hercules the Magnificent (also known as Heracles) is a god from Greek mythology. Born as the son of Zeus, Hercules was possessed with superhuman strength. However, rather than live on Mount Olympus with his father, he was forced to prove himself in Greece.

History

In order to show he was ready to join the Gods on Olympus, Hercules was set twelve tasks (or labours) by Eurytheus of Arcos. Armed with his colossal strength, Hercules set about carrying out these challenges and proved victorious. Two of these tasks involved direct battles with Medusa and the Hydra.

However, even though Hercules successfully completed all twelve tasks, he was still not admitted into Olympus. The hero pondered why he was not ready and obsessively considered what his final task was. His confusion turned to depression as the opportunity to prove himself became more infrequent. This spare time led to Hercules eating copious amounts of food, turning him into an obese shadow of his former self.

On one otherwise unremarkable day, Hercules was informed that strange intruders had entered his town, believed to be demons. Inspired by yet another challenge to face, Hercules pounced, but unfortunately brought him with a half-eaten chicken leg rather than his sword. The run to meet them also give the fat Hercules a stitch and a touch of wind, letting Amy Rose and Tekno the Canary off from fighting him. When he realised that they were women, he ordered them to the kitchen to prepare more food. They supposedly refused but were taken back to Hercules' home, where he explained his situation. Their meal was interrupted by the rude arrival of a minotaur, challenging Hercules to a battle. Eager to prove himself, Hercules hastily sprang from his seat but tripped over another. Amy and Tekno were forced to intervene, saving his life.

Afterwards, Hercules thanked the girls for rescuing him and apologised for getting the wrong idea about them. This revelation prompted the appearance of Zeus, who confirmed that the thirteenth task was to see all people as equal. For finally completing his challenges, Hercules was admitted onto Olympus and was even given an instant makeover.
