- "Tookes have two small feet that can jump long distances."
- ―Bina, Bina's Guide to the Creatures of Batuu
Tookes were creatures that could be found on the Outer Rim planet Batuu in the forests near the ancient ruins. Tooke tracks were visible in the dirt around Black Spire Outpost during the occupation of the planet by the First Order in 34 ABY and were included in a scavenger hunt created by the Amani Bina, owner of the local Creature Stall.
Biology and appearance
- "Tookes are awake mostly at night. They have large eyes to see better in the dark and can run quickly."
- ―Bina, Bina's Guide to the Creatures of Batuu
Tookes were small, round, bipedal creatures that lived in the forests on the Outer Rim planet Batuu. Their bodies had tan fur and ended in a long tail that terminated in darker brown fur. Tookes had two legs that ended in paws with three clawed toes that allowed them to run quickly and jump long distances. They had whiskers on their face, a round nose, and their underbelly had two small arms ending in two digits each. Tookes were mostly nocturnal, with their large, black eyes allowing them to see well in the dark.[1]
History
- "What do their tracks look like?"
- ―Bina prompts younglings to locate tooke tracks in Bina's Guide to the Creatures of Batuu

Two weeks after the arrival of the First Order on Batuu,[2] in 34 ABY,[3] the Amani female Bina, who owned the local Creature Stall in Black Spire Outpost, included tookes in her interactive guide, Bina's Guide to the Creatures of Batuu. Her employees handed the books out to younglings nine years old or younger free of charge. Participants were tasked with locating the tracks of the creatures, which could be found along Savi's Path leading to the nearby ancient ruins as well as other dirt paths outside Black Spire Outpost. Upon completion of the activity, younglings were rewarded with a token.[1]
Behind the scenes
Tooke footprints were included in themed pathway details in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge,[4] the themed land that opened to guests at Disneyland Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2019,[5] marking the creature's first inclusion in the new Star Wars canon.[4] However, the tracks were not identified as tooke tracks until the release of Bina's Guide to the Creatures of Batuu[1] in February 2020.[6] The tookes first originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they first appeared in the 1999 video game Star Wars Episode I: The Gungan Frontier.[7]
