Tern Koyatta was a human male who served as a maintenance technician within the Galactic Empire, a regime which he loyally served. Assigned to the forest moon of Endor at some point after the destruction of the DS-1 Orbital Battle Station and during the establishment of the DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station, Koyatta began to fear that the new Death Star would be destroyed, just as the first had been. As insurance to ensure the Empire's future, Koyatta exploited the Imperial bureaucracy to requisition[2] a vast amount[1] of Imperial weaponry, including vehicles. Koyatta established[2] a well hidden weapons cache with the equipment[1] and sealed its entrance with construction droids.[4]
During the Battle of Endor,[2] which would see the destruction of the Death Star[1] just as Koyatta has feared, Koyatta found a dead Imperial officer and stole their uniform[2] before escaping the moon. Koyatta then made his way to[1] Grand Moff[5] Ubrik Adelhard aboard a Star Destroyer in his fleet and proposed retrieving the arsenal, hoping to prove himself to the Moff. Koyatta presented himself as a general and the weapons cache as a formal instillation, of which he had served the administrator of.[1] In the story he crafted, using the stolen uniform and a code cylinder to claim he was a general,[2] he had served as an Imperial officer who escaped Endor with his forces, but their frigate was destroyed by the remains of the Death Star II. He claimed the other survivors jettisoned themselves to provide Koyatta, the ranking officer, with enough air.[1]
