Steel was a type of alloy used throughout the galaxy. Crude but efficient, steel was used to protect the inner components of military towers. One type of steel, durasteel, was also used for this purpose, as well as many others, such as combat armor.[1] During the High Republic Era,[2] the Sith Lord[3] known as "the Stranger" made it a point to tell his Sith acolyte Mae-ho "Mae" Aniseya that weapons made of steel were not a threat to the Jedi, nor were those that used laser technology.[2] While it was possible to kill a Jedi with a metal[4] or laser-based weapon,[5] the Stranger's point was to order Aniseya to slay a Jedi without any weapon whatsoever, falling into his overall plan to kill "the dream" of the Jedi Order.[2]
