- "Open a frequency to General Viess. Now."
- ―Melis Shryke, to Selea
Selea was a Zygerrian Nihil marauder who served in the crew of the Storm Melis Shryke on the Stormship Cacophony during the High Republic Era. The Zygerrian was aboard the Cacophony during an attempted raid in the Seswenna sector in 228 BBY, during which the vessel was boarded by the Jedi Masters Avar Kriss and Porter Engle. A number of the bridge crew fled to the escape pods in fear, with only Selea and the Ortolan Jago remaining. Selea followed Shryke's orders to open communications with her superior, General Viess, and was sent by Shryke to an escape pod shortly afterward.
Biography
- "Send her our coordinates."
- ―Shryke to Selea, after reporting to Viess

The Zygerrian Selea was a member of the Nihil marauder organization during the High Republic Era.[1] By 228 BBY,[2] Selea was part of the crew led by the Storm Melis Shryke within General[1] Abediah Viess's[3] Ministry of Protection, serving aboard the bridge of the[1] Stormship[4] Cacophony.[1] By that year,[2] Shryke and the crew of the Cacophony performed a number of raids on the outer edge of the Stormwall barrier that surrounded the Nihil's Occlusion Zone territory.[1]
Some time after the Nihil expanded the Occlusion Zone to claim more space in response to an attempted assault on the Stormwall by the Galactic Republic and Jedi Order, Shryke intended to launch a raid on the planet Reventine, located in the portion of the Seswenna sector outside the Occlusion Zone. Selea was present on the Cacophony as it waited behind the Stormwall[1] above Seswenna,[5] a planet in the Seswenna system[6] within the same sector; however, the vessel was soon boarded by the Jedi Masters Avar Kriss and Porter Engle, who wished to capture the Cacophony and use its Path engine to escape Nihil space. Many of the Cacophony's bridge crew fled in fear, heading for the escape pods, despite Shryke demanding that they stand and fight. Selea remained behind, being one of only two Nihil, alongside the Ortolan Jago, to do so.[1]
Shryke ordered Selea to open communications with Viess, and the terrified Zygerrian complied. After reporting the Jedi's presence to Viess and requesting backup, Shryke told Selea to end communications and send the general their coordinates. Shortly afterward, Shryke sent both Selea and Jago to the escape pods, having activated a contingency measure in hopes of sabotaging the Path drive. Viess's ship, the Foregone Catastrophe, soon arrived, and the general ignored the distress calls of the Nihil in the escape pods, instead focusing on deactivating the Cacophony to prevent the Jedi's escape. The Nihil's efforts were in vain, however; Kriss successfully hijacked the Cacophony and escaped the Occlusion Zone, taking Shryke prisoner, while both Engle and Viess disappeared after a duel aboard the latter's vessel.[1]
Personality and traits
Selea was a Zygerrian with a pronounced snout and feline ears. She had brown downy fur that covered her body. When the Jedi boarded the Cacophony, Selea was terrified, but she remained loyal to Shryke.[1]
Behind the scenes
Selea appeared in the 2023 novel The High Republic: The Eye of Darkness, written by George Mann[1] as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia initiative's Phase III.[7]

As The High Republic Adventures (2023) 4 takes place one year and two weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY. Since the events of The High Republic Adventures (2023) 6 are set immediately following the fourth issue and depict the expansion of the Stormwall, the events in The High Republic: The Eye of Darkness following the expansion must take place in the same year.
