Rass

Rass were a species of predators native to the planet of Sakiya^[2] in the Saki system^[3] of Hutt Space.^[4] They possessed hard bones that were a pebbled black in color^[1] and used by the sentient Sakiyan species,^[2] who were also native to the rass' homeworld,^[5] to make the handles for bladed weapons.^[2] The Sakiyan Admiral Tarnese Bleyd who served the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars owned a knife with a handle made of rass bone, and considered the blade among his favorites.^[1]

Behind the scenes

Rass were first mentioned in the 2004 novel MedStar I: Battle Surgeons, which was written by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry.^[1]
