RTK111

RTK111 was a lawless Outer Rim Territories planet. It featured a city in a warehouse district of which the native Abyssin gangster Gor Koresh ran the Gor Koresh's Honky Tonk illegal gladiator arena. In 9 ABY, the bounty hunter Din Djarin and the alien youngling Grogu visited the arena in order to meet Koresh. The gangster attempted to force Djarin to surrender his valuable Mandalorian armor, which led to a fight. Djarin subsequently hung Koresh from a streetlight outside the arena and then left him to fend off the local wild dog population.

Description

RTK111 was a terrestrial planet[3] located in grid square S-14 of the Standard Galactic Grid as part of the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Slice.[2] A city on the planet[7] featured hot air[4] and a population of wild dogs.[5]

―Din Djarin and Gor Koresh[6]

In 9 ABY,[8] the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin and the alien youngling Grogu traveled to a city on RTK111 in order to meet[6] the Abyssin gangster[3] Gor Koresh, who Djarin believed could help him located other Mandalorians. At night, Djarin and hovering pram–riding Grogu traversed[6] a backstreet alleyway[4] in a warehouse district[5] of the city to reach[6] the illegal gladiator arena known as the Gor Koresh's Honky Tonk.[3] There, the pair met with Koresh during a match between two Gamorrean gladiators.[6]

Instead of helping Djarin, however, Koresh attempted to force him to surrender his valuable Mandalorian armor, which led to the bounty hunter defeating the gangster's underlings and chasing the Abyssin[6] himself[3] in the alleyway outside. Djarin subsequently hanged Koresh upside down from a streetlight and, after interrogating him for the information he was seeking, left the gangster at the mercy of the local wild dogs and departed RTK111.[6]

The location that would eventually be identified as RTK111 first appeared in in "Chapter 9: The Marshal,"[6] the first episode of the Disney+ television show The Mandalorian's second season. The episode aired on October 30, 2020.[10] The concept supervisors Christian Alzmann and Erik Tiemens and concept artist Khang Le all provided concept art depicting the episode's exterior shots of that location.[5] Before its debut in "Chapter 9: The Marshal," the location was featured in a trailer for The Mandalorian Season Two, which was released on the official Star Wars YouTube channel on September 15, 2020.[11]

JAKe's article "The Force of Beats and Rhymes" in[12] the March 30, 2021[13] 201st issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine identified the location as a planet but misidentified it as "Koresh."[12] The 2023 reference book Star Wars: Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide by Pablo Hidalgo and Emily Shkoukani subsequently introduced the celestial body "RTK111,"[14] and finally the 2024 Star Wars Encyclopedia: The Comprehensive Guide to the Star Wars Galaxy retroactively established that the name referred to the planet first shown in "Chapter 9: The Marshal."[3]
