Description

Myrra was the capital city on the Outer Rim planet Akiva, with about a million inhabitants. The city was a sprawling, choked mess of strange-angled buildings that emerged from the jungles around them.[1] Like most settlements on Akiva, Myrra is built to minimize impact from the planet's monsoon seasons and resulting floods.[1] Almost everyone in Myrra used the bala-bala, a small speeder used for transportation that was able to navigate the tight channels and streets and could also be used to lift crates.[1]

History

Early history

The modern city was build on top of the system of catacombs. These catacombs were rumored to contain a Jedi Temple, a Sith trap, a Hutt breeding ground, or the first dwellings of the Uugteen. At some point the city started to be governed by the Satrapy of Myrra. The Satrapy lived in a large palace located in the city.[1]

The Clone Wars

"The separatists have an advanced droid factory underneath Myrra that produces an impressive amount of droids. The broken ones are dropped in on end, and moments later, new and shiny ones come out the other, ready to be deployed in the field."
―Jet Kordo[2]

During the Clone Wars, the city was aligned with the Confederacy of Independent Systems which constructed a droid factory in the series of catacombs beneath the city.[1] During its time running the droid factory both produced and reconfigured a massive amount of battle droids for the Separatist Droid Army. However at least one batch, 4652-A, of B1-series battle droids produced at the planet were found to have insufficient combat performance after less than five percent of a deployment of more than 26,000 survived engagement with the Grand Army of the Republic. During the same time period the factory began producing BX-series droid commandos.

Ruled by the Empire

"Worst thing the Empire ever did was build that dam."
"Yeah. The grove of trees near my hab? Brown and dead and dried up."
"And I never used to get hit with the floods. Now, they wiped out the lower floor of my shop. I lost all my bushels of dried palm fronds."
"I wonder if the water was rerouted to the catacombs?"
"Don't know. But the wildlife have tired taking refuge in my home. If I wake up to another yaya fly staring me in the face, I swear"
―Engineer to farmer[2]

During initial early years under control of the Galactic Empire, the smuggler Jet Kordo noted that the city was good for business, noting that the empire only made an appearance every four cycles. At somepoint the empire constructed a dam within the city which redirect the flow of water within the city. This redirect causing some plants to dry up and disrupted the wildlife in the city such as the Ya-ya flies. After being forced to enlist with the Imperial Engineering Corps, a Rodian named Gedeek Obaz operated a shop in the city where he was known as the "Toymaker" for his work to repair and gift droids, including one named Pip-Squeak to local children. At the same time however Obaz also assembled droids for use in underground cage fights that were held in the city.[2]

By 3 ABY, the Pyke Syndicate held control over a large district of the city located next to the Market District. Despite the Satrapy's public opposition to ogranized crime the Pykes maintain control over their interests in the city through a combination of bribes and coercion to local representatives as well a paying exuberant taxes for the land. In 3 ABY, the Hutt Cartel partnered with a local crime lord named Surat Nuat allowing them to establish control of a district of the city. This gave the cartel access to the city's droid black market for which they eventually gained significant share of the market. In an Imperial Security Bureau report about Nuat it was noted that the alliance Surat Nuat's gang and the Hutts was proving to be a useful counter to the influence of the Pyke Syndicate within the city. However the report also note that the alliance between was fragile and would likely dissolve soon. Myrran Swimmer's Club a local club in the city was forced to define a no-go zone in the nearby Lake Amari due to the increased presence of the Hutt Cartel.[2]

Future of the Empire

Following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, the Imperial Future Council attempted to hold an emergency conference in Myrra to plan the future of the Galactic Empire. However, their meeting was sabotaged by a group of rebels and bounty hunters, who stirred up unrest in the city and ultimately ended the rule of the Satrap.[1]
