Motivator

"Lord Vader must have realized that you've adjusted my motivator to obey you."

A motivator was an important^[2] type of device found in droids, such as the R5 series astromech droids like R5-D4^[3] or GNK-series power droid like EG-30,^[4] and in starships such as the Millennium Falcon.^[5] The droid R4-G77 also had a motivator.^[6]

If defective, they could blow out explosively, potentially sabotaging the entire droid.^[3] The motivator played a role in deciding the droid's loyalties, with an adjustment to a droid's motivator serving to reprogram its loyalties.^[1]
