The Mindsplinter was an artifact that was discovered by a group of Mimbanese miners on the Minemoon of[1] the planet[2] Mimban. The miners kept the artifact within a sealed chamber on the moon, and it became a priceless relic within Mimbanese culture.[1]
In 28 ABY,[3] centuries after the relic was first discovered, the dark side organization known as the Knights of Ren were hired to steal it from the miners in exchange for payment. Ren, the leader of the Knights, ordered them to kill the miners and retrieve the artifact. However, during the skirmish, the newly recruited Ben Solo killed Ren and took command of the Knights, who departed without the Mindsplinter.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Mindsplinter was first mentioned in The Rise of Kylo Ren 4, a comic written by Charles Soule and published by Marvel Comics[1] on March 11, 2020.[4] The artifact's name is similar to that of the Star Wars Legends novel Splinter of the Mind's Eye, written by Alan Dean Foster and published in 1978, which features Mimban.[5]
