Lady was a title and also a respectful form of address. "Lord" was a typically masculine equivalent of "lady."

History

The planet Mustafar was home to Lady Corvax.[3] Padmé Amidala was referred to as "my lady" or "milady," though she was the Queen of Naboo and later senator for her people.[2][4] Lady Bo-Katan Kryze was the regent of Mandalore following the death of her sister, Duchess Satine, during the Clone Wars.[1] Towards the end of the war, the Sith Lord Maul, who split from his master and attempted to lead the criminal underworld through syndicates such as the Shadow Collective and Crimson Dawn, intended to kill the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker at the Siege of Mandalore. When Skywalker's former Padawan Ahsoka Tano confronted Maul instead, the renegade Sith disparagingly mocked his adversary's lack of an official rank, calling her "Lady Tano."[5] The ancient Jedi droid Huyang later referred to Ahsoka Tano as "Lady Tano" when aiding on her quest to find Grand Admiral Thrawn. The mercenary Baylan Skoll referred to his employer, the witch Morgan Elsbeth, as "Lady Morgan."[6] Being of royal bloodline, Senator Carise Sindian of Arkanis was addressed by the title of Lady on various occasions, although she was deprived of this honor after Leia Organa arranged for Sindian to be stripped of her noble status with the Elder Houses in retaliation for the actions that Carise had perpetrated against both Organa and her friend, Ransolm Casterfo.[7]

During the War of the Bounty Hunters, the Galactic Empire's ally, Tagge Corporation, was led by Lady Domina Tagge,[8] while the Crimson Dawn syndicate was led by Lady Qi'ra.[9] Lando Calrissian's yacht was named the Lady Luck.[10]
