Kinyen was an agriworld[3] located in the galaxy's Expansion Region,[1] on a junction with the Corellian Trade Spine and the Great Gran Run.[2] It was the original homeworld of the Gran species.[5] Malastare , which was colonized by Gran hundreds of years before the Imperial Era,[8] was also considered a homeworld of the Gran.[5]

Kinyen was the homeworld of the Gran senators Philo and Kharrus, who represented Kinyen in the Galactic Republic Senate during the Clone Wars.[5]

Description

The planet was notable for its many peaceful farming settlements, such as the Kemalo Farming Cluster.[3] Their bountiful produce was sold and distributed to many parts of the galaxy, including Batuu.[6]
