- "Master Kenobi has taken the Jixuan desert, so the southern hemisphere is ours."
- ―Mace Windu
The Jixuan desert was located in the southern hemisphere of the planet Ryloth.[1] In 21 BBY,[2] during the Galactic Republic's efforts to liberate the planet from the Confederacy of Independent Systems' control in the Clone Wars, the Republic forces of Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi had managed to gain control of the Jixuan desert[1] following their engagements with the Separatist Droid Army in the settlement of Nabat[3] and other villages. With Kenobi's capture of the desert, the Republic was able to claim control over the planet's southern hemisphere.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Jixuan desert was introduced via holographic projection in "Liberty on Ryloth,"[1] the twenty-first episode of the first season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, which aired on March 13, 2009.[4]
