Star Wars: Hunters

Glikkin was a male Coruscanti Kubaz who held the master thief title and spoke in the stringing sound of Kubaz. Growing up in the underbelly of the planet Coruscant, Glikkin was an orphan who was trained by the owners of the orphanage as a thief to steal and sell valuables for the benefits of other orphans. At some point, the owners threatened to call the authority for Glikkin's possession of his Dual Vibroblades, causing the Kubaz to threaten the owners' lives by holding one of the vibroblades against their throats. Following the incident, Glikkin then left the orphanage for good.

In 9 ABY, years later, Glikkin went to the planet Vespaara and took part in the competitive sporting show Hunters of the Outer Rim as a Hunter. Prior to his official introduction to the sporting show, Glikkin sneakily stole a prized tiara belonging to the Hutt Balada. However, the Kubaz later returned the missing tiara during his welcome ceremony, which caused Balada to let out a laugh and decided to let Glikkin keep his spot on the roster.

Biography

A young thief

«I may be a master thief now, but I'll never forget where I came from - the lower levels of Coruscant.»
―Glikkin[3]

During his time as a Kubaz youngling, Glikkin was an orphan[1] boy[2] who lived in an orphanage at the underbelly of the planet Coruscant. The owners who ran the orphanage saw potential in Glikkin and trained him to become a thief in order to benefit other orphans,[1] by stealing and selling valuables. Among Glikkin's many finds as a thief, his primary weapons,[4] the Dual Vibroblades,[3] was one of them. Glikkin's immediate attachment to the weapons caused an issue between him and the owners of the orphanage, who wanted to report the Kubaz to authority. The Kubaz then held one of the blades against their throats, forcing the owners to surrender and let him own the weapon. Later after the incident, Glikkin left the orphanage for good.[4]

Joining the roster

"Yes, I like the Hutts. Like to steal from that is. But not Balada. Never again."

By 9 ABY,[5] the Kubaz thief held the title of master thief.[1] Later in the same year,[5] Glikkin went to the planet Vespaara to compete in the competitive sporting show Hunters of the Outer Rim held at the Grand Arena.[3] However, before making his debut and announcement, the Kubaz stealthily stole a prized tiara belonging to the Hutt Arena co-owner Balada. Unbeknownst to Balada on who was responsible, she put up a reward for whoever was able to catch the thief.[6]

Following the tiara heist, Glikkin was welcomed by Balada to the podium to be officially introduced as the newest Hunter to join the sporting show. As the Kubaz arrived at the podium, he then quickly pulled an object out of his jacket. While his action initially caused a concern and alerted the security droids, Glikkin revealed that the object was in fact Balada's missing tiara and returned it back to the Hutt. In response to the stunt pulled by Glikkin, Balada let out a rare laugh and let him keep his spot on the roster.[7]

Duel of the thieves

«Lovable? Admittedly, I would steal hearts, if I could get a good price for them, but I wouldn't say I'm lovable, per se. I prefer… debonair.»
―Glikkin, to L-X1[4]

During a training session later, an insider report revealed that Glikkin had lost his vibroblades at the Training Ground. As he patted his pockets for the missing weapons, the Jawa Hunters Utooni nonchalantly whistled and juggled Glikkin's vibroblades. The Kubaz immediately snatched his weapons back and insulted the Jawas in Kubaz. Glikkin brought the issue up to Balada, which the Hutt then proposed a scavenger hunt between the two thieves to compete in. Whoever won the hunt would receive the Arena Master Thief title.[8]

Following the start of the thieving hunt between Glikkin and Utooni,[8] the former had an interview with[4] the droid announcer L-X1 "Lexi"[9] for the Arena News. During the interview, Glikkin revealed some tidbits regarding his past as an orphan, as well as the origin for some of his weapons and tools he used for the sporting show. Aside from answering question provided by Lexi, the Kubaz also ran around invisible with his cloaking device gauntlet, the optical dephaser. As the interview about to end,[4] the Dowutin[3] announcer Boz Vega entered the room with his favorite mug filled with caf. Glikkin, who was still invisible, stole Vega's mug—an item on his list to steal—and revealed himself to bid farewell to the two announcers before leaving the room.[4] Continuing the hunt, Glikkin stole one of the new healing droids belonged to[10] the Mon Calamari Hunter[3] Sprocket. On the other hand, the Jawas took[10] the Wookiee Hunter[3] Grozz's prized possession, a self-made plushie of the Wookiee himself.[10]

After a while since the heist competition started, it finally drew to a close. The final tally result was then handed to Arena team and was read out by Balada, though it turned out to be a draw. In response, Balada put up one final objective—knowing that a tie would appease no one—to steal the human[11] Arena co-owner[12] Daq Dragus' Championship belt. Without any second thought, Glikkin and the Jawa brothers rushed toward Daq's office. As the Hunters were outside of the office, they took separate approach to enter the room; Glikkin scaled the office wall before entering the window, while Utooni lockpicked the door. Once inside, they noticed that the Championship belt was being worn by Dragus. Before anyone could steal the belt, however, Dragus picked them all up by the scruffs of their collars to call an end to the heist. Dragus set out one final event to declare the true winner, to which Glikkin and Utooni agreed.[11]

Soon afterward, Glikkin crept up on Utooni at the Training Ground, vibroblades in hand. L-X1 hurried to intervene, but Glikkin had only approached to pay the Jawa brothers a genuine compliment on their skills at fighting and thieving, humbly acknowledging that he had underestimated the pair. Utooni responded similarly, delightedly complimenting Glikkin's gear, specifically his optical dephaser.[13]

Equipment

«This gauntlet is one my greatest treasures. While I will not be revealing its origin at this juncture, I will disclose my optical dephaser has allowed me to pull off increasingly involved heists since obtaining it.»
―Glikkin, explaining his optical dephaser gauntlet[4]

During his time as a competitor in the competitive sporting show, Glikkin wore light blue overalls with a spray-painted dark blue jacket. He also wore a silver mask, covering his entire face, as well as his snout. For combat, Glikkin was equipped with the Dual Vibroblades, a pair of double-bladed vibroblades[1] designed similarly to a petar.[14] The Kubaz also prepared himself with additional gadgets, such as the optical dephaser and repulsor-enhanced caltrops.[1]

Behind the scenes

Glikkin first appeared in the canon video game Star Wars: Hunters as one of the playable characters, which was developed by NaturalMotion's BossAlien and published by Zynga[3] on November 16, 2021, as a soft-launch to select countries,[15] before the global release on June 4, 2024.[16] The character was announced to be included into the game on January 27, 2025, to coincide with the PC early access release of the game.[17] While the PC early access release was pushed back indefinitely,[18] Glikkin was still added as part of game's fifth season "Scum and Villainy"[19] on January 28 of the same year.[20]
