The letter 
was the second letter of the Aurebesh alphabet. It was pronounced "Besh," and equaled the High Galactic character B.
Sometime after the Battle of Hoth, the Alliance Fleet was discovered by Imperial forces. All Rebel crafts were ordered to calculate the jump into hyperspace and regroup at a rendezvous point determined by scatter protocol Besh.[1]
