- "Norra, I’m a bounty hunter. I’m like an anooba with scent in its nose. I don’t like to stop until the target is clamped tight in my jaws."
- ―Jas Emari, to Norra Wexley
Anoobas were a species of vicious and carnivorous canine-like desert mammals. The species had a varying tones of gray fur covering its body. Additionally, anoobas also had a distinct lower jaw that was complemented with chin tusks. To survive in the wild, anoobas traveled in packs of 10 to 12 members. The species hunted preys by stabbing them with its chin tusks, then tearing it apart using its long claws and fangs.
Throughout the galaxy, anoobas had been used and domesticated for varying purposes. The bounty hunter Embo had domesticated an anooba named Marrok to assist him in his jobs. Several anoobas were being used to hunt fugitives at the Citadel prison, though most were killed during the Battle of Lola Sayu except for one.
Biology and appearance
- "Monster hunters and mercenaries…lovers and lords…I don't think you've ever met someone you wouldn't throw to the anoobas to save your skin."
- ―0-0-0, to Chelli Lona Aphra

Anoobas were vicious[5] canine-like[1] desert mammals known to be carnivorous.[2] The quadruped species could reach up to 2.7 meters in length.[3] Anoobas possessed a pronounced lower jaw, sharp teeth,[5] a long tail,[6] and thick patches of fur across their spines, and they were able to let out a fearsome growl.[5]Their hind legs were smaller than their front legs.[9] Anoobas had a chin tusk that jutted out on their lower jaw[3] and long claws and fangs.[2] Small anoobas lacked a chin tusk.[3]
Behavior
Wild anoobas could be dangerous and they traveled in packs of 10 to 12 members.[3] They stabbed their prey with their chin tusks and then tore the prey apart using their long claws and fangs.[2] Anoobas could be trained to be pets,[5]guards,[6]or hunters.[10]
History

The Kyuzo bounty hunter Embo owned an anooba named Marrok, whom he had trained to assist him in his jobs.[5]Marrok was loyal to Embo and well-trained. He helped Embo during combat and retrieved Embo's hat that was used as a weapon and a shield.[11]Marrok was small for his species, and he lacked the chin tusk that was found on most anoobas.[3]
The Phindian Osi Sobeck kept a pack of dark anoobas which he used to hunt down fugitives on the planet Lola Sayu. During a mission by the Republic to rescue prisoners of war from the Citadel prison, an anooba was able to pounce on Jedi Master Even Piell while he was distracted by pursuing droids. The beast struggled with Piell on the ground before stabbing him in the chest with its tusk, leading to his death.[6]
Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian and member of the Ghost rebel crew, painted an anooba insignia on her armor.[12]
Around 34 ABY, Dok-Ondar kept a stuffed anooba head mounted on the wall of his store.[13]
Behind the scenes

Anoobas first appeared in the episode "Citadel Rescue," the twentieth episode of the third season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, which was released on March 11, 2011.[14]
The anooba was a concept designed for the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace by concept artist Terryl Whitlatch, who explored the anooba as a possible creature on Tatooine. In the episode "Citadel Rescue," anoobas were kept in cages that were visually inspired by the velociraptor cages in the 1993 movie Jurassic Park. The episode's animators resized a gundark's mouth to be used as the anoobas' mouths.[9]
