"Keep the beat and shine like the star you are!"

― Clover's Mirror Mantra Clover's Parent Fix

Clover is one of the twelve main characters in the Star Darlings animated and book series. She is the main point of view for the eleventh Star Darlings book, Clover's Parent Fix. She first appears in the episode Star Charmed and is voiced by Julie Nathanson. Clover's roommate at Starling Academy is Astra and her first Wisher on Wishworld is Ruby.

Story

History

Clover had a wildly unusual childhood. She's part of the Flying Molensa Family, one of Starland's most renowned circus acts! Her extended family consists of acrobats, jugglers, star swallowers—you name it. As you might imagine, Clover has a lot of unique talents, such as doing backflips, making cotton candy, and playing the guitar while standing on a galloping galliope! But the best of them is making beats on her turntables. She makes the best beats!

Though Clover can play almost any instrument, what she loves to do is write celestial songs and DJ, so she's a perfect addition to the Star Darlings' band. She is also the manager of the band in Leona's Unlucky Mission and covers for Scarlet in Scarlet Discovers True Strength. She is sweet and the ultimate team player.

Appearance

Clover’s theme colour is purple. She is a teenage girl with light skin, violet eyes, lips, a thin slot between her front teeth, and hair braided into a back bun. Her outfit consists of a purple fedora, a jacket with a sparkly purple shirt underneath, a magenta skirt, leggings with star patterns, and fuchsia boots. Her accessories include her purple headphones and her star-charmed barrette.

On Wishworld, Clover’s appearance changes to look like a human. Her hair colour changes to brown with only a streak of purple, her eyes turn emerald green and her skin loses its sparkle. Her outfit consists of a grey beanie, a grey scarf, a pair of grey headphones, a purple plaid jacket, sombre grey jeans and purple sneakers. The only item that remains the same is her star-charmed barrette.

Personality

Clover is a born performer, always cracking jokes and making people laugh. Sometimes, she has a hard time turning off the performer in her. Nevertheless, Clover supports her friends and helps keep the vibe light. Clover is creative, especially when it comes to making music. She is also loyal and patient. She has willpower, responsibility, is dependable and has good self-discipline.

However, she can be rigid and doesn’t like taking extreme risks or challenges. She is hard to read and can be reserved with unfamiliar faces. Sometimes Clover can be a wisecracker.

Clover's Room

Clover's space is practical, interesting, and fun. She wanted an extra-high ceiling so she could practice her juggling, and she misses her family so she keeps in touch through several state-of-the-art monitors. Because music is Clover's life, she has an area dedicated to recording new songs and practicing her DJ skills. The huge plush couch is so comfy there are times when friends just don't want to leave!

Clover's time with the circus really shows in her choice of sleeping spaces. She prefers a hammock instead of a regular bed. But it's in the floor of her room that has the most awesome feature--an underground terrarium!

Powers and Abilities

Starling Physiology

Being a Starling, Clover possesses all of the natural traits that the species has.

  • Wish Energy Manipulation - Clover harnesses positive wish energy for most of her abilities.
  • Energy Blasts - As displayed in The Power of Twelve, wish energy can be used to fire streams, bursts, orbs, and waves of offensive power against opponents.
  • Force Fields - Demonstrated in the above special, Clover can conjure shields as defense.
  • Extended Lifespan - In Scarlet Discovers True Strength, it’s confirmed that Starlings can live for thousands of years, as Mira’s grandmother is over thousands of years old. Before that, in Leona's Unlucky Mission it was hinted that a few decades wasn’t too long in comparison to Starling lifespans. However, they do not have eternal youth, as Professor Elara Ursa is stated to be among one of the oldest wish granters and has clearly aged in a similar manner to a wishling elder.
  • Disease Immunity - In Scarlet Discovers True Strength, it states that the wish energy surrounding Starlings keeps them from contracting illnesses.
  • Superhuman Knowledge - In Leona's Unlucky Mission, Starlings are shown to be nigh-perfect at mathematics from birth. Astra's Mixed-Up Mission also implies that Starlings are the same way towards towards literature and similar subjects such as language and grammar.

Wish Mission Signature Powers

The Star Darlings each gain a power that is meant to assist with carrying out their wish missions. It is unknown if this is exclusive to them, or if they only work on Wishworld, as Adora uses hers to heal Vega in the The Power of Twelve.

  • Time Freezing - Clover pauses time in Clover's Parent Fix so her and her wisher can clean up their room quickly.

Trivia

  • Clover is based after the tenth zodiac sign, Capricorn.
  • Clover shares her name with the plant, which usually symbolizes good fortune and is associated with an idyllic way of life.
