Zalissya

The subject of this article appears in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

Zalissya is a hub in the Lesser Zone in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

Background

Serving as the heart of the Lesser Zone, Zalissya offers plenty of residential buildings and bunkers that double as shelters against Emissions. It’s the prime location for newcomers to purchase weapons and equipment upon entering the Zone for the first time. Zalissya is the place from which rookies venture deeper into the Zone, while seasoned stalkers pass it on their way back home.

Zalissya was established by Gaffer and Warlock, in order to provide stalkers with a safe harbor. To achieve this, the two had to fight against Monolith fanatics and the Slag Heap mobsters, eventually managing to prevail and setting up what became the go-to place for rookies. [1] Gaffer ensures the peace remains undisturbed, with simple rules: Keep your guns holstered, don't fight, and settle any disputes away from the village. Oh, and give the Ward a wide berth.[2]

Points of interest

Zalissya is the first hub encountered, centered around the crossroads. Most of the outlying buildings have been gutted and turned into barricades to protect the inner area, where stalkers can "enjoy" the protection of the Ward under Cpt. Zotov, watching from the old town hall up the hill, restock at Hamster's shop ran out of the old grocery store, repair and modify items at Lens' garage, get a drink at Warlock's bar, or ultimately rest in one of the many intact buildings surrounding the central part of the town.

  1. Gaffer: "I fought tooth and nail for this place – first against Monolith, then against those Slag Heap scumbags – so that decent stalkers could have a place to crash. Mutants and anomalies are bullshit, my boy. You’ll figure that out soon enough. The most dangerous thing in the Zone is other people. We might not all be best buddies here in Zalissya, but we sure as hell ain’t enemies, either. And as long as I’m breathing, it’s gonna stay that way."
  2. Gaffer: "The rules are simple enough: no waving guns around, no brawling, and any disputes get settled outside the village. And a tip from me: don’t get too close to the Ward. They don’t see you as a human being, just a tool. And, as you’re well aware, tools are disposable."
