The Mudmouths are one of the various types of Boss Salmonids that are fought in Salmon Run Next Wave.
Description
The Mudmouth is a goop-like salmonid that moves about and spawns either Smallfry or Chums when it opens its mouth. Defeating it requires a similar strategy as the Maws, where the players need to throw Splat Bombs into its open mouth. Once hit, it will be damaged and drop one golden egg. Keep damaging it to defeat it and it will drop 3 golden eggs. It only spawns during a special event, the Mudmouth Eruption.
Its golden variant, the Golden Mudmouths, have a golden sheen to their bodies and the light shining inside them is yellow. They spawn Cohocks.
Tips & Strategies
One crewmate can stand by and splat the lesser Salmonids that approach and that come out of its mouth while another throws bombs into its mouth. This is particularly effective when the crewmate doing the splatting has a roller since they can maintain position immediately in front of the Mudmouth and instantly splat the lesser Salmonids while barely using any ink. For Cohocks, this will also work with a Dynamo Roller.
Only attack green Mudmouths until a golden Mudmouth appears. Cohocks take and deal more damage so the golden Mudmouths should be your priority.
There are other methods of defeating Mudmouths besides your Splat Bombs. The Booyah Bomb and Killer Wail 5.1 will defeat the Mudmouth with one special while also dealing damage to the lesser Salmonids. The Crab Tank's cannon and Explosher will damage it like a Splat Bomb.

- There is a golden variant which drops 5 eggs instead of the normal 3 eggs.
- Prior to Version 1.1.1, there was an infamous glitch where the Mudmouths moved at extremely quick speeds, which made them near-impossible to splat.
