Karkasa is a Leader Krawl, and the fourth boss encountered in Spectrobes. Karkasa's property is Aurora.

Karkasa leads the Zabbram contingent. It appears in Nessa's ruins alongside its helpers, Klutch and Klench. It tries to stop Rallen from placing the Keystones and re-activating the Ancient Starship.

Appearance

Karkasa appears as a gigantic blue, green, and yellow Krawl, with four legs and two arms. It has pieces of the Ancient ruin's wall integrated into its body, from when it bursts through to face Rallen in the story. Its yellow arm holds a massive stone block, which it uses as a giant hammer. It has an electric blue "core" on the backside of its large right shoulder.

Battle

Karkasa slowly approaches Rallen and the Spectrobes before stopping to attack by pummeling you with the gigantic pillar on its arm, which stretches across the battlefield. When his arm returns to him, it does a 360 degree spin around his body, which also does damage to any opponent within range. It is capable of dealing a lot of damage very quickly, and its partners have the ability to heal it and themselves.

Strategy

Karkasa is one of the easier bosses in the game, due to having simpler moves. However, these basic attacks do a lot of damage, and are not to be underestimated. Similar to the Gyforma battle, the helpers, Klutch and Klench, are best ignored. Their homing energy orb attacks have a very short range, and can be dodged easily. They will restore 50 HP to each other and Karkasa, when Karkasa's HP becomes low. Besides being a slightly annoying battle prolonger, their presence does not influence the fight that much.

The best way to defeat Karkasa, Klutch and Klench is to use ranged and combo attacks against them. A strong ranged-attacker like Vilanox is the best way to keep Karkasa at bay and deal damage to it. Keeping the damage up when Karkasa's health is low is the key to winning the fight, as Klutch and Klench will spend both their turns healing 50 HP each, for a significant 100 HP recovery to Karkasa, per round.

Trivia

  • While Karkasa's blue in-game icon does not denote its Aurora property, equipping various property suits and having Karkasa attack Rallen shows that, through the difference in damage dealt, Karkasa is, in fact, an Aurora-property Krawl.
  • If you are defeated by Karkasa, you must walk all the way back to the depths of the ruins from your ship; a lengthy retracing of steps which adds insult to injury. It is best to prepare thoroughly for the battle, before engaging this Krawl.
