Gyforma is a Leader Krawl, and the first boss encountered in Spectrobes. Gyforma has the Corona property.
Gyforma is known as the leader of the spy Krawl, the Vilokken. It appears on Kollin in Commander Grant's office at the Nanairo Planetary Patrol headquarters, alongside Gyreel and Gyroll after it leads a Krawl attack against the planet.
Appearance
Gyforma is a towering Krawl with pieces of a rocket engine fused into its body. It is assumed this is what it uses to propel itself through space, allowing it to move ahead of the Krawl army and act as a perfect scout.
Battle
Gyforma is a sudden difficulty jump in the game, and can easily defeat unprepared players. It has high health and a sturdy body, making it take reduced damage from standard attacks.
Gyforma will follow a pattern of making a fiery dashing attack from its starting position to the center of the field. It will then return to position itself back between Gyreel and Gyroll. Gyreel and Gyroll with heal for 10 HP every time Gyforma performs his charging attack. Both partner Krawl will support Gyforma's return to position with spread shot attacks. It will then repeat this pattern of attack, and it will also swing its arms around to hit you if you remain close to it for too long. Due to this predictability, it isn't the toughest boss, however it does deal a lot of damage if its dash attack manages to land. Due to this, it is recommended to attack Gyforma from a distance, by using Combination Attacks.
Strategy
The Gyforma battle is relatively simple, as it is serves as the introduction to boss battles in Spectrobes. The best way to defeat Gyforma, Gyreel and Gyroll is to wait for Gyforma to finish his dash attack and then attack him while he's defenceless. Gyreel and Gyroll are best ignored, as their energy ball attacks are simple to dodge, and they heal 10 HP each time Gyforma attacks, making your efforts against them redundant. Any type of attack works well in this fight, though combo attacks are best avoided as they take too long to charge, and the helpers can recover from the damage after a time.
Trivia
- Aspects of Gyforma's design are shared by many bosses in Spectrobes, and in Spectrobes: Origins. It appears visually similar to Otorso, Goblada and Galgore.
- Equipping various property suits and having Gyforma attack Rallen shows that, through the difference in damage dealt, Gyforma is, in fact, a Corona-property Krawl. This happens to match with its icon color unlike multiple other Spectrobes bosses and enemies. The property of its helpers were also identified with this method.
