Scarabb[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. He was a beetle-like alien racer from an unknown planet.
Appearance
Scarabb was a beetle-like alien sporting a red shell with two distinct holes on its left and right sides, three pointed legs with multiple barbs, two jointed arms, two hands with three claws each, and a spiked head with two mandibles and a pair of blue eyes. For attire, Scarabb wore a small - but powerful - rocket booster on the back of his shell.[1]
History
Tossed in Space
Scarabb was one of the six contestants participating in an E.C.H.S Galactic Space Race, along with Greebo, Nordon, Kir-Ta, Brre-Die, and Sonic the Hedgehog. Additionally, prior to the race Scarabb made a bet with Sonic, on the terms that if the hedgehog lost, he would give Scarabb his spaceship (It is unknown what Scarabb promised Sonic in turn on the condition of him winning the race). Once the race started, Scarabb dashed forwards, attacking other racers while Sonic took an early lead. But just as Sonic was about to win the race, Scarabb activated a hidden miniature rocket booster he had equipped, passed Sonic with ease, and reached the finish line first. However, Scarabb's booster was noticed by a holo-finish camera, leading to him being disqualified, and his victory being forfeited to Sonic.[1]
Personality
Scarabb was ruthless and conniving, attacking other racers without remorse, and wearing a hidden rocket booster to ensure victory in races.[1]
Powers and abilities
Scarabb was naturally strong, being able to toss large objects or people short distances with ease.[1]
Trivia
- Scarabb's name is derived from the biological family Scarabaeidae, commonly known as "scarab beetles". This is reflected in his beetle-like appearance.
