O'Nux

O'Nux,[2] formerly known as Anti-Knuckles, (born day 251, 3220)[note 1] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. He is a moebian echidna and Knuckles' alternate self from the dimension of Moebius. Just as his Mobius Prime counterpart is the Guardian of Angel Island, O'Nux is the Overseer of Demon Island. But most unlike Knuckles, he is a pacifist who only uses violence as a last resort. He was defeated when Scourge the Hedgehog took over Moebius with the aid of the Suppression Squad.

Appearance

O'Nux is physically identical to his Mobius Prime's counterpart albeit with an addition of black tam hat and blue eyes.

History

Coming to Mobius Prime

Having lived on and defended the Sunken Island for his entire life, Anti-Knuckles' only known moment of tension came at the same time he met his Mobius Prime counterpart. Tricked by Scourge the Hedgehog into helping him steal the Chaos Emerald from Mobius Prime's Floating Island in order to save his own home, Anti-Knuckles was actually persuaded to do battle with Knuckles on Mobius Prime and then on Anti-Mobius. So great was his belief that violence was wrong that Anti-Knuckles wasn't even willing to harm another to save his home and all its inhabitants. O'Nux revealed his reason for attacking: his home, the Sunken Island, was gradually losing it's source of oxygen for unknown reasons.[1]

Despite this, he joined the Knothole Freedom Fighters as they investigated the deterioration of the Sunken Island's giant air bubble and discovered that it was the work of none other than Dr. Robotnik, who was looking to obtain power through Anti-Mobius' versions of the Chaos Emeralds, the Anarchy Beryls. With Anti-Sonic defeated and Robotnik nearing success in his plan, Anti-Knuckles joined forces with his counterpart, using the Emeralds of the Floating Island to reflect energy blasts Robotnik created using the Anarchy Beryls from the Sunken Island back at him, destroying his weapons and sending him back to Mobius Prime. Anti-Knuckles quickly replaced all six of the Sunken Island's Anarchy Beryls, saving the island, and then took the Freedom Fighters back to where they could make their own return trip. He was last seen with Anti-Sonic in custody, but the Hedgehog's reappearance later on clearly states that Anti-Knuckles didn't hold on to him long.[1]

Scourge's Takeover of Mobius

O'Nux Chair

Either before or after his alliance with Scourge, O'Nux gathered a group of supporters known as the Orderix, who worked with him to defend the island from intruders. He would later be defeated by Scourge the Hedgehog during the latter's takeover of Moebius.[3][2]

Personality

Unlike the Suppression Squad, who are versions of the heroes of Mobius with no moral sense, O'Nux is different from Knuckles in an entirely different way: he is a pacifist. He does not believe that violence is something that should be resorted to in any situation, and the only time he has strayed from this standard was after being tricked by Scourge. He also speaks with an Irish accent.

O'Nux's abilities are the same from his Mobius counterpart, he has a super strength to deafeat his counterpart, he is great at acrobatics and your pushing movements.

  • O'Nux's name is derived from Knuckles' nickname "Knux", with the "O"-prefix added to make it sound Irish as a reference to O'Nux accent.
  • According to Ian Flynn, during Scourge's takeover of Moebius, O'Nux swore fealty to Scourge when he took over Demon Island, not fighting back due to his pacifist nature.[4]
