Kura Sushi (くら寿司 Kura Zushi?) is a Japanese sushi restaurant chain founded in 1977.[1] In 2020, the American branch of the company, which operates Kura Revolving Sushi Bar locations, partnered with Sega of America for the Sonic the Hedgehog series.[2]

The collaboration was announced on 23 June 2020, Sonic's 29th anniversary, and began 6 July 2020.[3][4] For every 5 sushi plates, diners could watch a Sonic the Hedgehog animation collaboration episode. For every 15 sushi plates, diners received a single randomized prize. Prize items included lanyards, badge reels, and masking tape. Prizes were also available for purchase in limited supply.

As another part of the collaboration, Kura Sushi announced a chopstick set giveaway where diners would receive a pair of Sonic-themed chopsticks for every $60 spent. It was originally set to span from 4 September 2020 until 7 September 2020. The start date was later delayed to 9 October 2020, and the giveaway would last until supply ran out.[5]
