Has Bean

Has Bean used to be one of the jollier beans in the village... until Dr. Robotnik changed him into a robot. Usually he prefers to clown around on the sidelines, but he hasn't forgotten his humble past.

Has Bean is the protagonist in Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. He was a bean and former inhabitant of Beanville before Dr. Robotnik transformed him into a robotic being. His name is a play on "has-been", a term for someone who is no longer significant.

Appearance

Has Bean is a bean with the appearance of a small round star-shaped orange rabbit with dot eyes and a large mouth. His forehead also has a small red mark.

History

Past

Has Bean was one of the jollier Beans in Beanville. Dr. Robotnik captured him and turned him into a robotic being.[1]

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine

In the 16-bit and 8-bit versions of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, after realizing that his friends from Beanville had been kidnapped by Dr. Robotnik and were being turned into robotic slaves by the doctor's Mean Bean-Steaming Machine, Has Bean went to Robotnik's fortress in order to save them. Along the way however, he had to battle Robotnik's henchbots and then the doctor himself. In the end, he managed to defeat the villains and destroy the Mean Bean-Steaming Machine, freeing his friends in the process.

Personality

Has Bean appears to be a consistently happy person. Sometimes, he can get overjoyed, as shown when he jumps and spins in circles during the game. He appears to be a helpful and considerate ally. He also likes to clown around. However, he still has not forgotten his incident with Dr. Robotnik.[1]

  • Has Bean is an export of the character Carbuncle, the mascot from the Puyo Puyo games, the series on which Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine was based. Both characters are identical in appearance, though with different backstories.
