Alton Towers is an amusement park resort located in Staffordshire, England and gains about 2.7 million visitors every year. It has held several Sonic-related attractions over the years.

The Sonic The Hedgehog Room

At the resort hotel is a Sonic-themed room, which opened alongside the re-themed Spinball Whizzer ride (named Sonic Spinball) in 2010. It was the first time where Roger Craig Smith could be heard as the voice of Sonic, and could also be heard at the ride.

As people walked into the room, you are greeted by Sonic (voiced by Roger Craig Smith) saying one of many recordings. Inside the room there were one double bed and a bunk bed. The room had Splash Hill Zone themed carpet and wallpaper. There was also a quiz hung up on the wall which asked four questions about what the visitor can see in the room. Answering the questions and inputting the answers into the locked cabinet under the TV will unlock it and reveal a draw full of chocolate coins. The room also included a Xbox 360, a PS3 and a Nintendo Wii. The games included are:

Despite having a PS3 in the room, no games for that system were available to the visitor.

The bathroom featured two glass cabinets next to the sink on either side, holding various plush toys of Sonic characters and replica Chaos Emeralds.

Toyland Tours

The Spinball Whizzer ride was actually not Sonic's first appearance at Alton Towers, he appeared in the 1994-2005 dark ride, Toyland Tours. On the end of the ride, there was a room with a Sonic the Hedgehog animatronic which would tap his foot, move his head side-to-side and operate a Master System with a joystick. The room also had giant Rings that emitted light, along with TVs displaying Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Sonic the Hedgehog CD footage. It also played a remix of the original Toyland Tours music with Sega Genesis-like instruments and sound effects from the games. A body part of the animatronic stopped moving near the closure of the attraction and the animatronic in itself has not been found yet.
