Reverse Anchor Kick (リバースアンカーキック), also known as Jukei no Oni (
All appearances | ![]() ![]() |
Description
Chris handstands and performs an upside-down overhead kick facing towards his foe, and recovers right afterwards.
Only the second hit hits overhead when done standalone, but chained-into-version does not. Chained-into-version is also cancel-able.
Strategy
Normally far-reaching, this move can be a rather fast overhead poke, and especially if used to late-chain off of moves to retain its overhead properties. Even then, only the chained-into-version is cancel-able.
However, the issue is to due how far Chris both reaches forward and moves back, making this a great in-and-out at the cost of inflicting too much pushback, so users might need to be mindful of proximity from their foe. As a combo/blockstring tool, Spinning Array/Muyou no Ono is more recommended if Chris still intends to stick to the opponent (where as Reverse Anchor Kick/Jukei no Oni is meant to give space with all 2 hits).
Even if used as a combo, again, the victim may be pushed too far back to allow most of Chris' moves to connect solely due to either range, startup or both for any subsequent moves. Moves like the version Shooting Dancer Thrust can at least connect within proper range, but other than that, the chained-into-version of Reverse Anchor Kick/Jukei no Oni is still limited from further ranges.
In KOF XV however, if performed without a prior cancel, it hits twice like before, but the chained-into-version is changed to hit only once. Even then, having a single hit also means less pushback to allow for more followups to connect.
